Marv Levy spent his last day of his 90s on Saturday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Can't believe we have a head coach who's still alive who was head coach during the Eisenhower administration.

Current Congressman John Garamendi, California's former lieutenant governor who turned 80 earlier this year, played for Marv Levy.

As did former Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates.

Also, I had no idea that Jared Goff's grandpa played for Marv Levy.

I came to Cal in 1962, probably Levy's 1st year? CRAIG Morton was the highlite as Levy did not fare well. Thru the years, I have noticed that as Levy moved from college to Pro, he never indicated that he coached as Cal that I recall. Happy 100th Marv.

Great stuff, thanks Okaydo! Right in that period just before I started paying attention to Cal football but knew about afterwards.
For years now I've been wondering if there was ever a thought of going back to the full-sleeve striped jerseys for a Big Game? I suppose that time, if it was ever going to happen, is long past now.

Those were my favorite jerseys. Have a throwback that I wear occasionally to Cal games.

As for Levy, he seemed like a good guy. But his teams just weren't very good. He was a young coach at the time. But it seemed as he progressed up the ladder, he continually got better after his Cal experience. I often wonder if Justin might be following a similar path.........rough start but continually getting better with each (later) opportunity. I see a lot of good things in Justin. And I really hope he can put it together this year.

Anyway, Kirkland, I love those zebra stripe jerseys. They were a nod back to the Cal teams of the '30s, btw. And the Blue and Gold on them and the pants was perfect. Strong, bold, and easily recognizable.
