I thought last year would be his breakout year but he got hurt and the running game sputtered the rest of the year. With a big beafy O line at OU I hope we can see that breakaway speed he has.

Oklahoma may be missing Ott running the rock as well.

He could have left "better" than he did but note that he did graduate from Cal. I'm wishing him the best in his life's journey, except not on the field for the Sooners this fall.

I dunno guys, I think we're likely gonna miss Jaivian more than Ott.

Having said that, maybe we won't miss either.

What's better?

A super fast/shifty RB like Jet or a slightly less fast, less shifty, but bigger RB that also pass protects out of the backfield better?

I think the more important loss was Jet when you look at this year's roster of RBs....He would compliment them perfectly....Power between the tackles for the three we have coupled with lightning speed would have been ideal...Not to be, so let's move on.

For you knuckleheads (would you like me to explain what a knucklehead is?)

The average weight of an Oklahoma Sooners offensive lineman varies, but most players in that position weigh between 295 and 339 pounds. For example, Michael Tarquin is listed at 6-6, 313 pounds, and Spencer Brown is 6-6, 330 pounds, according to the Oklahoma Sooners website. Another player, Febechi Nwaiwu, is listed at 6-4, 339 pounds.
Here's a breakdown of some individual weights:
Michael Tarquin: 6-6, 313 lbs
Spencer Brown: 6-6, 330 lbs
Febechi Nwaiwu: 6-4, 339 lbs
Ryan Fodje: 6-5, 275 lbs, according to Sports Illustrated

In comparison to our O line:

The average weight of a starting offensive lineman for the Cal Bears football team is around 309.8 lbs, according to recent data, Crescent City Sports. This figure is based on the average size of offensive linemen in the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) level of college football. While individual player weights can vary, this gives a general idea of the size of the Cal offensive line.

A 30lb difference is like one extra blocking. What would Ott do with one extra blocker? Maybe one of those holes stayed open longer than a few seconds.....

Of course I continue to root for my favorite Cal players who are now Cal alums, especially one that got his degree in only three years and left to pursue his professional ambitions at a higher level.

Ott may get hurt again. If so, hopefully he has time to use what he learned about averages at Cal to actually provide correct information to compare the average weight of Cal OL vs OK OL.

Three yards per carry is not cutting it no matter what or whose fault. A change of scenery and staff may benefit all

You love to see it. But also speaks volumes about the talent disparity between us and bigger programs that a guy who wouldve been RB1 for us is RB3 for them.

Given how relentlessly Oklahoma (illegally) tampered with Jaydn they wanted him very, very bad. This isn't a talent issue, I'd suspect this is an injury issue - we've seen that movie before.

i think Jaydn is about to discover that who you do business with matters more than the words in their promises.

I believe he made a massive career and financial mistake moving to Norman. We'll see.

Which begs the question - if he's third string RB because he is injured, why in the world would you have him return kicks where he'd be more prone to injury?
Give to Cal Legends!

75% of the time the KR doesn't even catch the ball.

If I had any more eligibility left, I could return three quarters of the time.

During Spring game, Jaivian/Jet significantly outplayed Ott.

Ott has not looked the same since last year. Hopefully it's not an injury situation like Nate Longshore.

Good luck to him, but yeah, he's no longer with Cal so out of mind moving forward...

Schadenfreude

perhaps a bit. i think in my perfect world he has a 'fine' season at OU this year, decides his best years were with Cal and reps us in the NFL, where he succeeds.

chance that happens? probably pretty slim. i enjoyed the hell out of him in '22 and '23, and wish he was still here. with both Ott and Mendoza, I basically think they said some (and did) things without thinking, something i've been guilty of plenty of times. water, bridge, etc

I do hope Endries destroys worlds though. which says a lot given he's playing for the Horns

OU fans on twitter are saying their rb coach ("demarco"... I am assuming demarco murray and am too lazy to look it up) has a tendency to make odd depth chart choices early in the season. might just be misdirection or a motivational ploy. more than one OU fan suggested it might point to organizational/morale issues, so... perhaps worth watching

well my buddy at UCLA has already texted me saying "thanks for the running back, he looks great". so i'd agree.

I told said buddy that they better not ruin him like they did with sturdivant...
