Is Anyone Alive in the Cal Athletic Ticket Office?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am in my second day of trying to contact someone in the Cal Athletic Ticket Office to get clarification about downloading my three football season tickets to my Apple Wallet. Each time I call the main phone number I get put on hold and told that my call will be answered by the next available agent. There never seems to be a next available agent. While waiting I have been treated to the Cal Fight Song and Joe Starky calling a play involving Keenan Allen. I now know the play by heart. My calls have ranged between 15 minutes to over a hour on wait before I hang up. I have even called my "personal" account representative using a different number and I get shunted off to voice mail.

Has anyone else experienced this situation? Kind of difficult for Cal to sell tickets if no one is home in the Ticket Office.

I am caught in an endless loop to nowhere trying to buy tickets to the away game at Louisville using the links on the calbears site. It is so unnecessarily difficult to try and buy a g*dd*mn ticket. The link forces me into the cal app which then has me start over again to try and find a ticket link which I somehow cannot find.
Give to Cal Legends!

https://calegends.com/donation/ Do it now. Text every Cal fan you know, give them the link, tell them how much you gave, and ask them to text every Cal fan they know and do the same.

I called because I got two emails with "tickets" attached - only I don't have season tickets so I was trying to figure out if they were scam emails. While on hold, I figured out they were CAF "donor" cards, which I'm unlikely to use.

But that Starkey to Allen call is just odd to be the "hold" message. I get that maybe they don't want to use a more recent call with players who have left the program for other places, but why not a Jackson or Treggs or O'Neal punt return for a touchdown? Or any number of Muncie, White or Lynch runs? Or the Garbers scramble for a TD to win the Big Game? Or..or..or - there are a whole bunch of calls that could have been used that have more meaning or historical reference or just better excitement (and does not have to be The Play). (Some personal favorites are not Cal radio calls - Musberger's "Chapman is gone" or calling Jackson the "wizard")

I called, left a message, and they called me back within ten minutes and were really helpul.

When you do make contact, ask your personal account rep. for his/her cell phone number.

I had the same experience. My original ticket rep left and told me to email the gold standard email address. I did and received no response two weeks later. I ended up reaching out to the ATO email address, and got a way too casual response and they pretty much blew off my questions, only inquiring if I was a donor, which I'm certain they already know based on my email address. What a horrible experience. I eventually gave up trying to work with them.

I haven't tried calling the ATO recently, but I'm glad to know that you still get to listen to Joe Starkey calling The Play when you're on hold. Several years ago, I was greatly enjoying my time on hold for the ATO, until they answered before the play ended. I wonder how it ended! ;-)
Oops, I misread your post and just realized that you weren't treated to "The Play," just some other play with Keenan Allen. Bummer!

I haven't received my CAF donor member card yet for this season. What email address did that come from? A relative received a postcard from CAF saying that tse should receive digital member cards by last Friday 8/15, but she hasn't received that yet, and I haven't received a postcard or an email.

cal's monster class EXCLUSIVE: meet the worthless bureaucratic ****tards

listening to these 2 unlikeable anti football/basketball agenda dumb azzs with degrees from mediocre skools talk about espn gameday being a highlight of their careers is just straight up lying & tryna rebrand themselves as advocates for football now that the con artist isn't there to protect them anymore

jay larson

*****the architect behind misappropriating money from football & men's excellence in basketball donations to other agendas without notifying donors

*****the catalyst for the zoom call self reporting violation which resulted in multiple football staffers being suspended

*****recently tried to significantly reduce the daily food stipends for football players which would have basically wiped out the nutrition program & effectively terminated the football program...larsons wuz overriden by lyons & rivera and this wuz the final straw that resulted in the chancellor fully turning the keys over to the fb gm

*****the co lobbyist for nil dollars to be split 50/50 between men's & women's sports in order to be in "compliance" with title ix despite the fact that there is no other collegiate institution that shares that interpretation

*****abysmal leadership of FAILING men's athletic programs including basketball, baseball, soccer & cross country/track & field

jennifer simon o'neil

*****enabled for years teri mckeever to engage is racist & abusive behavior that resulted in multiple women's swimmers having suicidal iterations...let's be very clear about this, jennifer simon-o'neil is evil as **** and the unfunded student athlete lawsuits has the potential to be a financial tsunami

*****the co lobbyist for nil dollars to be split 50/50 between men's & women's sports in order to be in "compliance" with title ix despite the fact that there is no other collegiate institution that shares that interpretation

*****demanded that the women's basketball budget be the same as the men's basketball program, again a practice not replicated anywhere else on planet earth

*****abysmal leadership of women's athletic programs:

women's basketball: failed to measurably increase attendance despite this past season's generational squad, facilitated the hiring of a head coach who is an introvert that cannot raise nil funds & the hiring of an unqualified marketing director in markeisha everrett

women's softball: hired a mentally unstable head coach, last year's entire starting line up including the pitching staff is now out of eligibility or in the transfer portal as a result of the the crazy town bus crashing in strawberry canyon

women's soccer: like swimming former berkeley student athletes filing complaints re: coaching staff abuse/bullying
https://www.ktvu.com/news/more-athletes-describe-years-of-mistreatment-by-cal-soccer-coach

women's gymnastics: head coaches left to clemson & roster retention under attack, program in upheaval

women's volleyball: 15-17 record last season & 7-13 in acc play

women's field hockey: 7-10 record last season & 1-6 in acc play

women's lacrosse: 6-10 record last season & 0-9 in acc play

women's track & field: tied for 12th place in the acc indoor championship last season

women's cross country: 15th place in the acc tournament last season

women's sand volleyball: there's no critically needed dedicated basketball practice facility in berkeley but o'neil is spearheading a new sand volleyball facility built for the maybe 100+ fans

in a performance based organization that held its highest ranking employees accountable with specific metrics both larson & simon-o'neil would already be fired for absolute FAILING PERFORMANCES

the good news is that both will be redundantly unnecessary in 12 months from now if a basketball general manager is hired along the same lines of responsibility as ron rivera for football

getting rid of jim knowlton (which involved a negotiated "retirement" severance that involved attorneys on both sides) & cfo tom lowry (who once tole me on a zoom call that he wuz tired of the football program's financial "demands," his replacement is the very capable berkeley grad sierra achin-cryns) is clearing a path to terminate both jay & jenny

They are digital this year.

You can Download from your Cal Bears App (go to " manage tickets ". The card is listed among your football tickets and parking. You can also add to your Wallet if you use an iPhone.

Instead of using the App you can also log in to your ticket account at calbears.com (when I tried to download my card into Wallet it didn't work, but I was able to do so from calbears.com)

I received my digital tickets in the app, but I have not received the Cal Athletics Fund membership card, which is needed to receive some of the donor benefits.

Have heard similar problems about what's going on with the ATO. How do we not make it as easy as possible for people to buy tickets WHO REACH OUT TO US? This is the lowest of the low hanging fruit. Anyway, I passed this feedback along to the new person who is in charge of ticket sales (and gave the link to this thread). They are going to get this fixed.

So much gunk that needs to be cleared out from the old regime. We'll get there.

Yah the idea of a personal ticket seller is nice but impractical. I don't like being at the whims of a lone 20 something answering their phone. And "my bad" this past February was I thought the renewal for season tickets was asking for a DEPOSIT but apparently it asked for a Payment Schedule. I replied affirmative on the website and couldn't understand why they never asked for the balance. I didn't even notice that they spread out the payments on the credit card. I'd have paid in full at once if I knew thats what I was agreeing to. And if they are going to use an AI chatbot then why wasn't it available after hours? Do AI chatbots sleep?

I've communicated to a Cal Athletic Fund Assoc AD a couple of times when I noticed something out of date on their website

Both times it was fixed in a day

Also the Cal app does not work on my Pixel 9 phone with Android 16. I suspect the app needs to be updated to work with the latest Android version. I reported this earlier this month to my rep, so I hope it gets resolved before our first home game.

I did get an email this morning for my sports pass and tailgate card. I do have a workaround to access them. I use my old Samsung phone with Android 13 to access the Cal app and then save the pass and card to Google Wallet which I can access from my Pixel 9.

My rep called me and told me to clear the cache and storage on the Cal Bears app. This allowed to to re-sign in and use the app. I do not understand how there could be an issue on a phone purchased this month, but it is working now.

I admire your continued optimism.

For what it's worth, my experience is that they're terrible. I had a good ticket rep for a few years and had some good experiences as a result (e.g. being on the field for the coin toss). After that tbh the ATO makes Knowlton and Mark Fox look like high performers.

I wanted to add a ticket. Contacted my ticket rep (because ATO killed select a seat where I could've gone and had the kids play on the field and added a seat). She wouldn't let me add the seat next to my set even though it's open. They can't leave a single empty seat even though half the stadium is empty. The people on the other side of those seats had told the ATO they weren't going to renew but she had to wait until the deadline passed to give me the seat next to mine. Whatever, fine. She said she'd call me when the deadline passed and I get the seat. She never called. I followed up and didn't hear back. I guess there are too many other people banging down the doors of the ATO to buy tickets to take my money.

Instead a friend decided to get 1 more ticket too so they bought 2 (1 for them, 1 for us) to get around the ATO's policy about not selling a ticket. Then at renewal this year they transferred one to us so we could each pay for and control our own. I'm not allowed to pay for that one online, has to be via a ticket rep. Again making it harder to give them money for their terrible product. I contact my rep. I get an automated reply email informing me that she's excited to share that she has left for a better job elsewhere.

I contact the generic gold standard email. Someone proactively engages. Score 1 for the ATO. I'm told to pay by phone and an amount. I pay it. Get a confirmation email saying I'm all set, owe nothing, the tickets are mine. Months pass. Then last week some new rep reaches out and tells me my tickets are not going to be released to me because I underpaid. I replied telling them that they had picked the amount and told me verbally and in writing that I was fully paid. No response. I followed up. No response. At this point they're literally stealing my money.

When the product sucks doubling down with awful customer service is an interesting choice. I get more and better outreach from furd and a whole host of other college and pro sports teams I've bought tickets from. This isn't hard. And Cal continues to fail spectacularly. If we can't do the easy things like responding to customers and taking their money when they reach out trying to hand it over then how are we doing to do hard things like win the ACC?

I did get an email this morning for my sports pass and tailgate card. I do have a workaround to access them. I use my old Samsung phone with Android 13 to access the Cal app and then save the pass and card to Google Wallet which I can access from my Pixel 9.

Did you receive something that actually is a CAF membership pass that you can save to Googke Wallet? All we got is a very plain looking image that says CAF Sports Pass and another that says football Membership Card, with no personally identifiable info at all. Is that all they're providing this year? The email yesterday made it sound like this was temporary until the actual cards arrived, but then another email today stated they had emailed our cards earlier this week.

I was told this on Monday and sent another email yesterday since I still have not received mine:

Thank you for reaching out! Unfortunately, our membership cards experienced a slight delay last week, but our aim is to have them all delivered today! Please let us know later this week if you have still not received your card and we will find a solution. Also, you are correct as the tailgate will be located on Maxwell Field!

Go Bears!

They have my name and some other info on the cards. They also have what I believe is the NFC symbol on the top which I think means they can be tapped to be read. If you touch the show code at the bottom, it shows a QR code.
