Where is the sarcasm emoticon when you need it?

Why would you need a sarcasm icon?

It's mainly to protect yourself from those sensitive taking your post out of context and then shooting you for it. But I agree, it's unnecessary.

Does UCLA view DeShaun Foster like Cal does Justin Wilcox?

Long haul?

Mendoza having a career day vs Indiana State, 19 of 20 for 270yds, 5 TDs, no INT.

Final score IU 73-0 ISU.

Mendoza deserves to have a burrito named after him in Bloomington.

I'll copy and paste this rant from a UCLA fan, this is an excellent rant minus the formatting. I think it covers their fanbases feelings on their football team.

Quote:

Is anyone, going back to the day of Deshaun Foster's hiring surprised? His introductory press conference was one of the most bizarre, cringy and embarrassing things I have ever seen. Never before (or since) had I ever witnessed an AD and new Head Coach spending the majority of the introductory press explicitly trying to convince everyone that the new hire actually deserved to be hired despite the fact that he completely lacked any of the requisite experience that is assumed to justify such a hire. I recall at the time thinking "WOWM SIMPLY WOW!" Of all the names being mentioned as possibilities, UCLA chose to hire what clearly the MOST UNQUALIFIED candidate available. I honestly thought it was a joke when his name was even mentioned as a possible candidate. I saw several of his games at UCLA in person and always had love for the guy, but FFS, there was not a single other FBS program that would have even considered giving someone with his paltry resume an interview for a Head Coach position. He frankly would have had an extremely hard time even getting an interview to be a coordinator at a lower tier program. So there was that. And sure his blathering, tearful assurances that he was qualified despite his lack of anything approaching a legitimate qualifications on his resume, followed by the 3 Pillars of Banality this and the 3 Pillars of Banality that weren't exactly settling, but hey, maybe I was wrong, maybe he was, as he explicitly stated, "Born for this job!" Maybe he would prove all us naysayers wrong. Maybe he would step up to the Mic at Media day and blow everyone away with how quickly he had grown into the job, rather than providing yet another nationally covered embarrassment for UCLA. For me, the only surprise was that he MIRACULOUSLY managed to win 5 games last year. For that herculean feat he deserved to go out (i.e. be let go) on a high note, rather than instead of not only pretending that he was capable of replicating such mediocrity, but would someone manage to greatly exceed it in year two. Burdening him with increased expectations was cruel and now the choice is either fire him a quarter of the way through a slate that only promises to get more challenging, or eliminate the Mercy Rule and provide the sporting world with an excruciating spectacle in futility. Week after week this team will lose in more devastating fashion. And week after week we will hear from a delusional coach just how close this team is. About how he is stressing fundamentals under his 3 Pillars: Discipline (except for illegal procedure, lining up offsides, illegal formations, personal fouls, knowing blocking assignments, running the right routes, lining up the right gaps on defense, tackling, understanding scheme, anything whatsoever tied to playing good football. Respect - which clearly doesn't apply to having self-respect to be prepared to play, or respect for teammates to do your job. Enthusiasm - personally there is nothing I value more than an enthusiastic loser. Just think about how bad it's been while the guys have been showing up to practice thinking they actually have a chance to compete and want to play. What happens when they finally acknowledge what the rest us figured out in the first quarter of the Utah game. In short, this **** is about to get UGLY, REALLY UGLY.

Sometimes first impressions are overrated.
Sometimes, they're spot on. lol.

God I'd totally forgotten about that press conference. Where the sum total of his speech was that he was excited and that he was sure people didn't know much about UCLA but it was . . . located in LA . . . together with USC. Any questions?

it's really a testament to how much nutty stuff has happened in college football over the last two years that that epic beginning no longer even warrants a footnote.

Anyone know where the UC Los Angeles game is available for a re-watch? I was at a Neil Young concert at the Shoreline last night and forgot to record it but would love to hate watch it for a healthy dose of schadenfreude

Was on Big Ten Network, so Fox Sports would have it.

Great game, ACC is going to fine Tech $50k for students rushing the field, but it was worth it.

Clemson now 1-2, GTech 3-0

It's good that Ott was able to get in for garbage time because that evaporated the hope held by some Oklahoma fans that he's been held out by injury in anticipation of SEC play.

Looking at the box score I noted there was an ad for UCLA versus northwestern tickets As low as $128

Can you imagine paying that much to watch this type of performance

They should be scheduling Northwestern State.

The good news for Cal next week is WSU handled San Diego State and last year was worse than Oregon State.

Were they worse? OSU won head to head (playing at OSU), but WSU had the better overall record.

No, you are right, WSU was not bad last year.

San Diego State should still be a win, but let's see how things look after this weekend.

Oregon State is down 35-0 to Texas Tech in the third quarter. Future opponent Virginia Tech is losing 21-0 to Old Dominion just before halftime. The Hokies passing game has been horrific so far.

We may never again get a Strength Of Schedule this abysmal - it feels like a once in a generation or two event.
