Plus the heartbreaking nature of so many of the losses.

1991: 5-0 Bears lose to national champion Washington by a TD with Mike Caldwell barely failing to catch a pass in the end zone on the penultimate play.

1993: 5-0 Bears lose to #13 UW 24-23 after building a 23-3 lead thanks to Dave Barr getting hurt plus Cal failing to recover Washington's onside kick at the end of the 4th.

1996: 5-0 Bears lose to WSU after coming back from down 21-0 with Pat Barnes fumbling at the end of the game on the Coug's one yard line.

2005: 5-0 Bears led UCLA by 18 midway through the 4th but allowed three unanswered TDs to lose the game.

2007: 5-0 Bears lose on the infamous Kevin Riley brainfart.

2015: 5-0 Bears lose on the road at Utah by just 6 points despite five Jared Goff INTs.

2016: 3-2 Bears lose in OT at Oregon State with both teams combining for 791 rushing yards and 10 rush TDs. We would miss bowl eligibility by one win.

2022: 3-2 Bears somehow managed to lose to a Colorado team that would finish 1-11.

2024: 3-2 Bears lose at Pitt 17-15 with Ryan Coe missing a 40 yard field goal which would have put us on top with under two minutes to go.
