The furdies.. They will be big underdogs in the rest.
Louisville will be tough but I hate thinking about this, Virginia is good but has been vulnerable the last few weeks against subpar competition and SMU was stifled by Wake Forest, so aside from Big Game, we have more than a small chance to get a few more wins

Furd is obviously the best shot. Virginia and SMU will be favored against us but we're at home so I think there is a chance to win one of those too.

That could be a nightmare scenario if we don't have a hire locked-in because JKS would be annoyed at having to play for his folks if he is on the fence on staying, there would have to be a coach otherwise it could make for a disaster

Or it could be ideal. Rivera should definitely have his guy identified and hired by early December. Worst case is Rivera as interim. If we are in the Hawaii Bowl Sagapolutele is going to want to play and tygen ge can get to know the new staff. We have a bunch of Hawaii commits right now that we could invite. Maybe we invite others and get others to flip. All of that will contribute to Sagapolutele wanting to stay.

And that is why we need to start all this early and not wait until the season ends so we at least give the guys awareness that change is afoot and that we are not stumbling blindly into the coaching carousel

Just a gut feeling here, but I think we get Virginia this Saturday, for a couple of reasons. First I don't think Virginia is as good as their W/L record, (similiar to us.) And now after losing to VT, the game is less relevant to our results, which is why we'll probably win it.

I agree, it took Virginia OT to beat a crappy UNC team and we luckily beat them at the goal line.....so I would say it's a toss up.
I think we will win this one, get smoked by Louisville, lose a heartbreaker to the furd (either because we miss or they make a field goal) and then limp into the smu game, demoralized, and drop that one, too.

I actually have a good feeling about this game as opposed to the usual dread.
This is the obnoxious thing about the Wilcox experience. He wins just enough to satisfy the administrative powers that be that tolerate bad but not national-headsline-horrible football. I am confident that we will (barely) squeak in a win somewhere.
Maybe expectations will be different under Rivera and Lyons going forward, but they just got here, are staring down a big (for us) buy-out down the barrel and looking at the wild coaching carousel. A big game win or a win against a ranked opponent might temper their impulse to do the right thing and fire Wilcox.

Ugh so spot on. This prediction reflects some deep Cal football understanding.
Yay! Its that time of year when we long for the 6 win season which will anoint us with a meaningless bowl game that costs more to go to than the payout. And for which we get that much needed and so important practice time so we can show recruits from high school and transfers that, yes son, come here and you too can play in Frisco, TX right before Christmas.
Well Virginia is in the books, which of the remaining three games will allow us to push our ticket to the Idaho Famous Potato Bowl?
None. They can all beat us.
For the teens out there, if we can somehow get one more win, we'll probably finish 6-7.

This is silly. His backup is being paid hundreds of thousands to wear the headset, as well as have a landing place after ohio not thee state advised him to move on.
