On3 has Cal at #44 and 247 at #43. Not a strong enough group to warrant keeping any coach. And certainly not this coach.

High school recruiting doesn't matter much except for the programs that are well funded enough to grant pay raises for success.

I think they committed because of Wilcox big dog.

Or in spite of, but yes. These guys committed to Cal with the present staff despite losing records the last 5 years and losing conference records the last 8. If for some reason they are retained after 1 more losing season, I doubt that changes these recruits' decisions.

However, I am confident that if we let Wilcox go and hire a new, exciting coach, we can keep the guys the new staff wants and bring in even more highly rated guys.
