How much does Cal owe Wilcox for terminating him now?
Cal cares more about football than FSU

The right thing to do at this point. Unfortunate that this didn't ever seem like a great fit.

Honestly, even if JKS leaves, it's acceptable collateral damage.
Now we get to see if JKS committed to Cal, or if he committed to Wilcox. I was fully on the "JKS would be a dummy for not transferring if Wilcox is here next year" wagon but obviously this changes the calculus entirely.
Cal Football and Ron Rivera release a statement, confirming that the program has parted ways with Justin Wilcox

Knowlton and Justin can compare mansions and Lamborghini's while we struggle to survive.
You can throw Larry Scott into that mix with his $50 million while he let the Pac-10 die.

Strangely, a large number of Twitter comments are saying this was a dumb decision on Cal's part.

He had a undistinguished tenure, but he's a thoroughly decent person, from a family of distinguished individuals. He represented Cal with class and dignity, and I believe that he recruited the best players and people that he could. While I'm happy we're moving on, I sincerely wish him well in his future endeavors. I'm cautiously optimistic that Rivera will make a good hire, and that the football program, in his hands, has a better future.

Was that his total take for his time in charge? Offices were a lot cheaper in The Creek.

Looking forward to Justin Wilcox next program. He’s a really good coach.

Heard from more than a few people this year that there was some power struggle with Rivera coming in. Wilcox thought he'd be a figurehead, handle the politics stuff he didn't want to do/isn't very good at.

Rivera disagreed.
And he just pulled rank.
I appreciate high standards. I'm not convinced Ron is the man to get Cal there. We'll see.

I don't think every one of those guys leaves if they won 9-10 games last year like they should have.
