SMU is dominating Arizona 24-0 in the Holiday Bowl at halftime.

I think they're still mad they blew their chance to play in the ACC championship game and maybe make the CFP.

The announcers about SMU defending the passing game pretty well: "They got lit up by Cal but they're locking down the Arizona receivers." (something like that)

SMU ended up holding on to win, and Wake Forest is about to win its bowl game. The ACC is doing well in the postseason. Too bad Cal was unable to finish strong.

SMU couldn't stop De Jesus like we couldn't stop De Jesus when he played for UNLV.

He had 2 catches for 38 yds and 1 TD against Cal in the LA Bowl.

BTW, ****ty that Oregon scored right there rather than take a knee. The game is over. Take a knee.

What an awful take. There's no coach in the world who takes a knee on 4th down. TT had called their timeouts with less than 2 minutes left trying to improve their odds of winning the game, but Oregon is doing something classless by trying to improve their odds of winning the game? There's a non zero chance of losing by INTENTIONALLY turning the ball over in a 2 possession game.

Indiana called timeouts or Oregon is already in the victory formation. There's nothing ****ty about it. You know what's ****ty? TT getting flagged a few moments earlier for a penalty literally called "unsportsmanlike conduct" for a straight up cheap shot on an Oregon player. But Oregon wasn't classy. What a ****ty post.

I agree that there's no point in taking a knee on 4th down. If TTech had chosen not to take time outs then yeah you take a knee. If they choose to extend the game then you try to get another first down.

Not only is there no point, it actively lowers your odds of...WINNING THE GAME. Ahem. Oregon could not run the clock out, so the alternative is to intentionally turn the ball over? No, just no.

Oh, and here's their head coach calling Dan Lanning out for that crap he pulled.

Taking a knee ends the game, if I remember. Geez. Let's move on.

Edit...I just read it was 4th down. Taking a knee wouldn't have ended the game...clock would have stopped. My take was wrong.

I didn't know FCS football can be so entertaining. Everything that could go wrong went wrong in the national championship game. I started watching the highlights around the 4th quarter and thought to myself, none of these guys are getting paid. This is college football

The real alternative option was going for a FG there but I agree with going for the TD.

Even though both options would result in a 3 score game rather than a 2 score game, I'd say there's a much lower chance of a freak turnover and score off of a rushing play (with the right playcall and coaching) than a FG attempt. And although he previously hit 3 on the day, Sappington had already missed 1 FG in the 4th quarter from 36 yards out which certainly makes you second guess things.

And while their chances overall were incredibly slim, I'd say TTech's best path to a comeback pretty much required some kind of freak turnover which would lead directly to a score to save what little time was left.

Replying not to necessarily re-open the discussion or target you specifically since I see that you're saying you made a mistake on remembering what down Oregon was on, but just to add to the conversation and discuss the actual alternative playcall.

A great game marred by a NO CALL on the last play of the game.
The Ref was right there and swallowed his whistle on BLATANT Pass Interference.

This was not a "Hail Mary".
It was not a jump ball situation.
It was one on one on a very catchable pass that Stribling has made all season long.

Ole Miss should have had one more play from the Miami 20 yard line.

Cults don't end well. They really don't.

Yeah, that was a bad no-call. It kind of reminds me of the game we lost to Arizona around a decade ago. In our game, of course, the officials failed to call offensive PI.

Mendoza off to a hot start.

Mendoza's receivers win every battle for a ball in the air.

I wonder what that's like.
