... My decision would already be made -- for all practical purposes -- pending, of course, the formal in-person interviews.
Nobody brings the collection of talents that Tosh has, and it's not even close:
1) Cal grad;
2) Intensely driven to excellence;
3) An amazing coaching resume, associated with the best coaches; and
4) Unmatched recruiting ability.
Something I haven't really seen highlighted yet is the fact that Tosh's talent for recruiting players will very likely extend to being able to recruit a great coaching staff. It doesn't hurt that he's already worked with some of the best.
Obviously, hiring Tosh would create the biggest splash imaginable. We need this NOW to give our program a completely new start. Hiring Tosh would be incredibly inspiring to potential player and coaching recruits, in addition to big-time Alumni donors.
This would also present a new challenge for Tosh, and he would get the opportunity at his alma mater. Sure, if he achieves what he is capable of, he will be invited to be the next HC at Ohio State -- or even sooner at Texas after they fire Sark. But if he succeeds here and then moves on, it will only be after taking our program to a completely different level.
Finally, is there any HC hire we could possibly make who would make JKS more excited to stay here? I rest my case.
