Is there an official coping thread for those of us who don't like the Tosh hire?

Can this be the official coping thread for those of us who don't like this?

Not only have I not forgiven what he did 15 years ago (can you even forgive someone who doesn't ask to be forgiven?) but I can't help but wonder the upside. Is the upside that we go to another holiday bowl and he leaves taking all our best recruits (but even worse this time with easier rules?) I'd rather have another 7-5 season than holiday bowl and crash out. I have no love for this hire.

At this point, it is what it is. He will be the coach and I won't have any affinity towards him. He can win games and that still won't change. Still confused how Kiffin gets flamed and Tosh gets to go back to his Alma mater he burned without much of a second thought.

You mean doing the honorable thing and telling recruits that there was no effort to graduate them before one week later and the entire world laughed at us for flunking so many student athletes? Maybe you forgotten or never new the whole truth of why he left. There's a reason so many of us are behind him, maybe you should learn it.

PS, by the way according to sports illustrated the boosters were 100% behind him. I wonder why they are and you're not? Are you smarter, recher and more valuable than them?

If someone like Tedford or the Cal athletes that actually played under him as well as the major donors who fund our football program forgive and support him I honestly don't know what standing any random fan will has to be bear this kind of grudge. Not to mention that it's still possibly that in some kind of introductory press conference that Tosh goes actually address the past controversy and express an in-context public mea culpa.

Who's the negabears now?
Aside from getting to 10 wins in his first year after a decade of us who were formerly referred to as negabears telling all who shall now be referred to as negabears that this was the solution…

What will really tickle me the most is watching the new negabears clamor to find personality flaws in an alum who takes us to 10 wins after having defended a non alum who stole said alum and loitered at 5 or 6 wins for a decade.

The problem is, even were there the courage to hire an alternative, the momentum (code for mindless mob agreement) would never let that any other person succeed. I am a skeptic of the hire vs other attractive candidates. But I say let us hire him and bring things down to earth to see if he is everything people say he is. We will never be able to test the alternative path. And people will complain we never gave him a chance if we don't give him everything he asks for. So our wagon has gone over the cliff for Tosh and I can only hope our wagon grows a pair wings.

You're right I totally forgot only certain stakeholders are allowed to hold opinions. How silly of me. Hey if he wants to address the situation then I'm all ears, but it's been silence for 15 years. What's the phrase- fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice won't get fooled again!

I think that, like you, I would prefer that Cal hire coaches without the kind of baggage that required them to go on a reputation rehab tour. They're always out there, as the Gladstone shortlist from 2002 attests

I've asked what the whole truth is but those with the credibility to say what it is have declined to do so. Do you know what the whole truth is and are willing to say? I mean know, not just suppose based on what seems clear or common sense to you.

BTW, if Tosh really had a problem with how the program graduates players, the honorable thing to do was demand change or quit over it, not show absolutely no problem with it until he decided to dump Cal for his own personal gain and then use the graduation issue to attack us.

Forgave him for what? We no longer can even say we know what Tosh is guilty of since our insiders won't clear the air and neither has Tosh.

If Tosh acknowledged what he did and apologized, it would be much easier to move on but he has never done that and I doubt he will after being rewarded for his mercenary career with the head job at the school he f*cked over.

You can start the movement to create threads denouncing and demanding firing the HC. I did my part the last three years and am finally a content Cal fan now that Wilcox is gone. Will actually be looking forward to the season for once.

You're allowed to have your opinion but it seems increasingly silly to hold such an opinion if the people in position to have been most directly harmed or aggrieved by his actions have moved past it.

I would have preferred a more experienced head coach with more of an offensive background as did Ucla, but it's done. I am frankly tired of all the personality focus we've had - you know, Rolo didn't seem excited on the sidelines, Wilcox never showed any emotion - Let's look at the potential for job performance. Staying positive - we have no other choice. There is a big springboard with our two big wins, bowl game, and JKS returning. Can we stop the Wilcox, Dykes, Holmoe, Tedford, Ayoob discussions at last? How about we get a bowl win - Rolo coachin em?
Bring back bottled beer and cigars at CMS. Should get us back in the Rose Bowl!

I'm not sure who's in a position to minimize anyone's harm/grievance. Especially an alum/fan for decades. Who do you think is more aggrieved exactly?
