The Bears picked up their second Texas A&M linebacker with the commitment of edshirt soph LB Tristan Jernigan‍ today.

The 6-0/235 ILB played in  g8ames as a frosh in 2024, compiling 11 tackles and 1 TFL in backup and special teams duty. This last season, Jernigan added 3 tackles and a TFL in two games, preserving his redshirt season.

As a 4 star prep recruit, Jernigan senior he totaled 81 tackles, including 45 solo take downs and 6 TFL, 3 sacks and 1 interception returned for 60 yards. As a junior the new Bear added with 96 tackles, 8 TFL, 8.5 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries. He chose A&M over Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, Oregon and more.

Jernigan joins  join running backs Adam Mohammed‍, Carter Vargas‍ and Ashton Emory‍, offensive tackles Jimothy Lewis‍, Jacob Arop‍ and Mykeal Rabess‍, Texas A&M edge Solomon Williams‍ and Oregon safeties Kingston Lopa‍ and Michael Hurst Jr‍ in the Bears’ 2026 portal recruiting class.

Players choosing Cal over the SEC is the new normal.

Maybe it is the new norm. The SEC went 4-10 in bowl games. If Miami wins next week the ACC will finish 10-4! It's good to see Tosh working on defensive players as it looks like no one is coming back from the portal.

Even worse when you consider they were 2-8 in non Sec-SEC matchups where they were guaranteed to go .500 which upped their win percentage from 20% to a robust 29%. Oh, and one of those 2 wins came against Tulane, the other was against a middling Michigan team who is, to put it politely, going through some stuff
