That actually is great media content.

Cousins is being brought in to mentor Fernando. Cousins likely will start until the coaches think Fernando is ready to the additional speed of the NFL game. Fernando is a quick learner, so it would not surprise me if he starts by the end of the season assuming the Raiders are not vying for a playoff spot. The current QB coach is Mike Sullivan, is turning 60, and it would not surprise me if the succession plan is to have Cousins become the QB coach once Cousins retires. I also assume Tom Brady is involved.

The management and ownership of the Raiders is changing to management group led by John Spytek, the general manager, which includes Tom Brady, and it would not surprise me to see more sophisticated, long run planing in the Raider's future. In that regard, Davis has a succession plan in place where the management group can obtain a controlling interest.

Until this moment I didn't realize that Davis didn't have a kid to pass the team onto.

You could easily be right but 60 isn't that old in the coaching ranks. To be a long term QB coach is more rare but there are guys that are just career positional guys and QB trainers especially -although they mostly work outside of individual teams as a "QB guru" with players from all levels- but the point is that there are lots of guys who favor the relative stability and longevity as a positional coach and aren't really trying to be coordinators or HCs.

And Brady will definitely be involved in an advisory capacity to oversee the appreciation of his asset but I don't think he'll be too involved and I definitely don't think he'll be working with Fernando directly in any meaningful sense. They might talk the game a few times or watch some film but I highly doubt they'll have like a monthly meeting or do any technique or field work. Tom just has too many other business obligations as well as broadcaster work and enjoying his retired(ish) life

He does have a 26 year old girlfriend.

Cousins will hopefully mentor Mendoza to become the first player ever to win the Heisman, the national championship, go first in the draft, and win a Super Bowl.

2 and 1/2 years! While being the first and last at every practice, getting in extra throwing practice with every coach and even Paws, working out with his wide receivers, working with a sports psychologist, doing mental reps while studying the playbook late into the night. Reviewing tape on upcoming opponents, watching Indiana (his brother's team) game replays, doing Toastmasters to improve his public speaking ability, going to mass every Sunday, worrying and praying for his ailing mom, putting together a charity with the Mendoza burrito, visiting San Francisco and getting to know the Bay Area, attending basketball and other Cal sporting events with his teammates….

Despite being a coach 20 plus years, it is Sullivan's second profession. Army career (West Point grad and Ranger) was his first. I assume he has no problem getting respect in the room with that background. That said, he has two big pensions waiting for him, and no State taxes in Nevada.
