The Bears stayed hot on the recruiting trail this weekend, picking up a commitment from Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV) 4 star CB Kamil Loud. The newest Bear is rated the #2 player in Nevada, the #26 cornerback in the nation and #212 player overall. Loud is the second commit of the weekend, joining 3 star tight end Jamie Spurgeon, who committed Friday night. Loud also confirmed he’s shutting down any more official visits.
"The visit was amazing!" Loud said after the visit."Everything about the trip, from the environment, culture, and what they're building, I was able to feel. From the whole staff, to the players, you can sense every single bit of energy and what Cal football has going on. Going there I would be surrounded with a bunch of like-minded people who have one common goal to push past the limits every single day. Everyone in the building has one common goal and you can feel it.
"The coaches were knowledgeable, welcoming, and made it clear how much they invest in their players on and off the field. Seeing the production of DBs that they put into the league is crazy. They are DBU! It’s a place that develops defensive backs at a high level and prepares them for success beyond college and even the league. As well as being the #1 public institution, you get the best of both worlds! Cal will be doing big things!"
A multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball, Loud had 18 tackles and 3 PBU in his junior season in nine games. Loud is the son of former NFL WR Kamil Loud Sr, who grew up in Richmond and set records at Cal Poly in 1994-97 before being selected in 7th round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills along winning a Grey Cup championship in the CFL.
The 6-1/185 4 star CB had an official visit to Washington on May 29 and also had an OV planned to Florida State next weekend that the newest Bear confirmed is now cancelled. Loud narrowed his 21 offers to a final six as of two weeks ago, with Cal, Washington, Auburn, Florida State, Miami and Utah before choosing the Bears this weekend.
Loud becomes the 22nd commitment of the Bears’ 2027 class, joining 4 star QB commit Dane Weber, WRs Charles Davis III, (Westlake), @demare(Westlake), Blake Gunter (Southlake, TX), RBs Jaxsen Stokes (Sierra Canyon) and AJ Antwon Sanders (CE King/Houston), TEs Rahzario Edwards (Grant High School) and Jamie Spurgeon (Minarets High School), OTs Amaziah Siale (Mission Viejo), Isaiah Bertola (Ewa Beach, HA) and Josh Bunni (Cardinal Newman), DLs Troy Bowens (Sutter), Jaderian Jones (Dallas) and Miles Schirmer (Corona Centennial), edge Giovanni Hodge (Grant Union), LBs Elyjah Staples (Marquez-Huntington Park) and Gunnar Perry (Notre Dame Prep/Scottsdale, AZ), CB Duvay Williams (Junipero Serra), safety Myles Baker (Sierra Canyon) and IMG Academy kicker Zach Brien.
