Feel like this off season has been so LONNGGGG. What's the starting offensive line gonna look like this year, anybody got any idea?

The O-line and also pretty much the whole team: a lot of question marks but a lot of possible exclamation marks, too.

This should be fun, especially considering the first game!

Yep, very eventful offseason. Fall Camp doesn't even start until Wednesday. Then the players have over a month to compete for those starting positions. I'm sure we will get reports along the way.

Tosh has certainly improved recruiting, but somebody on this site (I think) pointed out that the profile of 2026 incoming OL portal transfers is generally the same as previous seasons: guys coming from less competitive programs (including FCS) who weren't necessarily starters even there. Presumably this is the best Cal could get, given the school's reputation, academic requirements, and NIL budget, but the results haven't been good. I can't recall an O lineman getting as many penalties as Spasojevic-Moko last season, yet he kept starting presumably because nobody was better.

When I think of successful OL portal recruits, Barrett Miller (Stanfurd) is one who comes to mind, and he came from an (allegedly) major FBS program where he started. Hopefully, his younger brother will develop.

All this being said, I am optimistic about the freshmen OL recruits, at least based on their ratings, but don't expect them to contribute this year.

Same position coach, of course, but maybe the new OC blends better with Coach Anae. Additionally, maybe Coach A's blocking schemes and techniques work better in the second year.

I think having a top RB, better WRs and TEs, a fired up, motivated team and hopefully good, smart, aggressive playcalling (Harsin actually was good at that when we weren't trying to burn clock, just not recruiting and player retention) will make the OL look, and actually be, a lot more effective.

When running backs are breaking off big runs, passes are getting completed, we are not giving up sacks, we are getting first downs and scoring points, everyone praises the OL like we did in 2023 under Spavital when Ott lead the conference in rushing and we had the best offense of the 9 year Wilcox era. Then in the bowl game with Spavital gone our run game got stuffed and our offense disappeared. The party line was "finals" but then we saw the same thing for the entire following season despite having everyone back including a future Heisman winner and #1 pick at QB, with the Bearinsider consensus being that it was due to the OL "having regressed" or something.

A quick google search on Harsin's current employment reveals . . . nothing after he was let go at Cal. Even good old Bill Musgrave, who gets credit for discovering a future Heisman winner, landed a job after leaving Cal. I dearly hope Cal isn't paying off a multi-year contract to him on top of Wilcox's.

Someone said Wilcox gave him a two year contract and that was cited as one of the reasons we could not fire Wilcox: the cost of not only paying off Wilcox, but also paying off all of his staff.
