Every fan gets a fiat lux crowd link bracelet which will light up gold and change intensity in sync across CMS.

This is actually ****ing awesome!
I love it!

Absolutely. And as I noted on the other board, these things don't just "happen." Credit to Cal for listening to the feedback.

These bracelets are also freaking expensive so this is a major commitment in a number of ways.

That is one of the very few creative, cool, interesting specifically Cal promotions in a very long time. I am super impressed!

This is so cool. I hope they put Cal and Fiat Lux on the bracelet for branding.

Now I have another reason to show up to the game in person

Make sure you bring a bunch of friends! We all need to do our part to sell out the stadium.

We have long been divided on a fourth quarter song - as has me and Cal group of 40-50 yr olds…. For this lights out Gold Out I say pump Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys with full band involvement before the start of the 4th quarter and see what organically happens!!!!

Part 1: First 38 to 40 seconds band plays Night on the Bare (Bear) Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky just like in the rap video …. Not AI, this part is me …. Here is the rest off AI which confirmed it is not being used by anyone…

The stadium lights instantly cut to black (or strobe to team colors), and the video boards switch from game graphics to a high-contrast visual package. Gold bracelets come on!!!

0:50 - 1min (The Robot Vocoder Intro):Audio: "Intergalactic, planetary... planetary, intergalactic."Visuals: A giant, glitchy, retro-futuristic "4" pulses on the main screen in time with the robot voice. Kinetic typography flashes the words INTERGALACTIC and PLANETARY across the auxiliary ribbon boards around the stadium.

1 - 1:11 (The Build-up):Audio: "Another dimension, another dimension..."Visuals: The screen switches to a live crowd-cam feed with a heavy neon overlay filter. On-screen text commands: THROW 'EM UP!Crowd Action: 60,000+ fans bounce in unison, holding four fingers in the air, chanting "Another dimension" along with the track.

1:11 (The Beat Drop):Audio: Smoke alarm synth screech into the heavy drum beat ("Well, now don't you tell me to smile...").Visuals: CO2 smoke jets blast from the uprights or tunnels. The video board explodes into high-energy live crowd shots and rapid-fire highlights of the team's biggest defensive hits or explosive plays from earlier in the game. Part 2: Marching Band Arrangement OutlineIf your school has a powerhouse marching band, taking the track from the stadium PA and handing it to the horn line will blow the roof off the stadium.Song SectionInstrumentation FocusPerformance NotesThe Intro (Intergalactic, planetary)Mellophones & Low BrassUse tight, staccato cup-mutes if possible to mimic the tinny, robotic vocoder sound. The drumline holds a strict, robotic rim-click cadence. The Build (Another dimension)Full Drumline & TrombonesTrombones execute a massive, rising glissando on every "another dimension" repeat. The snare line builds a continuous, driving crescendo roll. The Drop (Well, now don't you...)Full Band (Tutti Explosion)Trumpets and Saxophones blast the main iconic synth hook at a roaring Fortissimo (ff). Tubas and Sousaphones lock down the heavy, distorted bassline.

unfortunately I was unable to visualize much of this due to age and my own lack of imagination, but I like your enthusiasm and think our marketing department could use some creativity. Maybe tie this into the Fiat Lux lighted wrist band promotion.

Hi Bob, welcome aboard.

Has Clemson turned the corner last week? What are your fans' expectations for this game and beyond? How many fans do you think Clemson will have Friday?

Hey Bob,

Nice to have you join us.

Looks like the Tigers might be starting to gain some traction again. I know he's taking some heat. But Dabo is a good coach and a good man. I hope things work out for him, other than the Cal game, of course.

Just as a reminder though, this isn't a "gold out" in the way we've run them in the past. The "gold" is being provided by the lighted bracelets - Cal received the feedback that people hate being asked to wear gold jackets and sweatshirts for night games so they pivoted.

Under publicized part of the game is that the game is also going to celebrate Cal's connection to poly culture. So there will be some nods to that in the uniforms. In addition, first 5,000 students will get blue leis as this game's giveaway (why 5,000? Because that's how many I could buy in bulk. Temporarily wiped out the nation's supply). So personally, I'm wearing a Hawaiian shirt (weather permitting).

Light up wrist bands will be very cool, although fair warning our soon to be replaced lighting system doesn't currently allow us to turn off all the lights because if we do that it takes them 10 minutes to turn back on again (you can see why these need to be changed). But people running the light show are convinced this will still look very coo regardless.

Can't wait.

In my opinion, replacement of the minitrons with much larger video boards is a higher priority than the field lighting. Why are the lights being replaced?

I would guess insufficient amount of light?

As to the jumbotron, it costs around $2 to $4 million for a large but not extravagant stadium installation, according to AI.

Lights are being replaced because we can't actually hold concerts in Memorial Stadium with the current lighting system. They just aren't up to it and no major acts will book with us. Concerts are a major future revenue source for us (you can look at what Stanford made from BET and ColdPlay). And even if none of that were true, the budget line item explicitly provides the funding for lighting and lighting only. Tosh was able to convince the governor to do this for us because Stanford had already gotten some funding for its lighting under a now expired energy efficiency program. Cal for very Cal specific reasons had never gotten its act together to apply in time. But Tosh saved the day on this one.

So yeah, this is why. Everything happens for a reason. It's just not always clear what those reasons are.

But yes, the minitrons suck. Moving up to the top of my to-do list for the off-season. Going to be very expensive and we have to find a lot of money to make this happen, but these things are an embarrassment and must go.

Our stadium architecture makes bigger screens problematic, we will probably have to prop them outside the stadium perimeter like giant billboards
HoopDreams

I don't think they need the entire screen to be above the rim if we put it where the stage/platform is now and displace some of the benches on that side (we rarely will miss the lost capacity)

Someone earlier showed an example of a college stadium where this is the case.

Based on what I saw on the video they look like bracelets I've seen at other events where they'll ask attendees to return the electronic portion of the bracelet after the game so that it can be re-used (it doesn't have a function if you were to just take it home) but the wriststrap part is branded and can be kept as a souvenir.

Now I'm not sure if these are rented from a company or if Cal now owns these and can deploy them at future games with the additional costs only being to replace lost/broken devices or creating new straps.

This is one of the best promos I have heard or seen in a long long time. Love the Poly angle!! Agree lights should be very high on the priority scale for the reasons you outlined. More money from other sources is a good thing. Scoreboard plans are also excellent and obv pricey.

Go Bears!!!! We got to get in the game to win the game. Thanks for all you do!
