So the new bill that will be voted on in the Senate will cap P4 leagues at 19, essentially ending conference re-allignment and expansion. To leave a conference, they will force that team to play independant for 5 years. If this passes long term hope to play with our old Pac friends in the Big 10 is officially over for good. Seems like a horrible overreach

Power 4 Conferences: The SEC, Big-10, ACC and the Big-12.

It used to be Power 5 with the Pac-12, but then our conference got blown up.

It used to be Power 5 with the Pac-12, but then our conference got blown up.

Ergo the Bill. The Pac blow up was just the beginning. Two conferences now want to take over college football and be in league with tv. Goodby to lower level football - there won't be the revenue for it.

It's not a united voting block. More than half of the ACC figures they're not getting into the SEC or Big Ten, and that they are better off if the SEC and Big Ten can't or don't want to expand further.

Politicians bringing back the Pac-12 wont do anything if Fox and ESPN wont pay tor it. That is what broke up the Pac-12, not the politicians.

It also requires schools to maintain their current number of Olympic and Women's sports, which eliminates flexibility for a school like Cal that has a lot more sports than other peer universities and is running a huge deficit.
