I don't think we're very good at football.
If we totally crash out the rest of the year there could be actions done behind the scenes for him to resign at a lower buyoutK1min8r said:

If Tosh took over last year with a freshman JKS these results would be understandable, but last year we were a bowl team with a few good wins and not a total rebuild, now we require a rebuild and Tosh may not make itupsetof86 said:
In the age of NIL and the portal you can't really lean on the "this is Wilcox's" team excuse for this kind of play. Dykes' first year was so hard to watch, but a comparable situation. Goff and a bunch of misfits plus bad assistant fits vs JKS and . . whatever this bunch of bodies is. The big difference being no way to transfer in a bunch of players to dump the old regime. Not til the portal launched in 2018.
If he resigns per se there is no buyout, just hand him $5 million on top of this year to walk awayK1min8r said:but do you really think donors would come in again for a potential $20M+ buyout? Kinda seems unlikely, but I didn't think we'd raise what we did for this year.Strykur said:K1min8r said:

1.) Hope is not an investment strategy.
2.) There's no evidence that says that this team can get better. Another game of 11 penalties for 108 yards.
3.) Observe what is happening and assume it will continue.
4.) The realignment window does not allow us another 2 years to figure this out.

Right and I don't think we really care - it's been the mantra since JT elevated our hopes. You know, go 6-6, beat Stanfurd and get the Cheetos Bowl. Why for example are we still here?? Hopes like today that somehow magically we would play SMU hard and maybe even win?? Look who we hired? A clown who doesn't know what he's doing but he had some kind of pedigree background. He sold us the world and we bought it. And Raphael just pushed it into our faces today as he must feel so fortunate he got the F out when he did.

Not evidence, just position. We're close to rock bottom.

Dead Bear bounce is not a strategy.
I sat through every home game of the 2013 season and thought I could stick through anything but after losing to a dog**** NC State team in 2024 I called it after Big Game and haven't been back since, now just passively watchingK1min8r said:I do think many of us after so many years of this, are really close to finally quitting.72CalBear said:Haloski said:

We may have to overhaul strength and conditioning because we have too many 300+ pound guys to not even rush for half a fieldGrrrrah76 said:
What is amazing that Cal hasn't been able to correct their offensive line issues that have plagued our running attack and pass protections for too many seasons. Third string undersized running back, along with second string center and guard equates to 40 yards of rushing. Maddening

Year 1 of Tosh is a huge disappointment.
If we're stuck with Tosh, we just have to hope he learns and makes the changes we need. This is definitely not a Chesney-style turnaround for sure.
Hopefully we are less of an embarrassment in year 2 or 3. This year is basically done for, although I do expect us to get better in our remaining games.
It was during the halcyon Tedford days but I remember listening to us beat Oregon State over radio, seems quaint but to see us falling out of the major college football scene makes me think about minutiae like thatninetyfourbear said:
It's sad that I'm almost nostalgic for Holmoe now. I certainly prefer Wilcox over what we're getting now.
I know we're not firing Tosh but we'd better redo the rest of this terrible coaching staff.

Tosh doesn't have it. Wilcox 2.0. Hope we don't waste time
coming to that conclusion.
