Are most Cal fans also 49er fans?

The niners had a great 10-15 year run, but they have sucked in every other decade. The Raiders would have about 6 super bowls if they had a decent qb to throw to Tim Brown (except for Gannon).

Live in L.A. and hope our politicians don't bamboozle us into getting an NFL team that will cost us millions; furthermore, I'm a diehard Bears fan, and by that I mean California Golden Bears. Teams with fellow alumni of my alma mater get my support over those that don't in football (see comments by calalumnus, Ursus Syriacus, tenplay, cyrusthebear, cyrusthebear & JerrBear bumped below) and basketball (Go Mavericks & Magic!).

I hope Aaron Rodgers sets NFL records against the 49'ers for very obvious reasons.

Grew up in L.A. rooted for the Rams until they moved to OC.

Somewhat rooted for both the Niners and Raiders when at Cal and later in L.A. all during the '80s. Was ****ed when the Niners passed up Rivera for Todd Shell. Was ****ed when the Niners kept telling Rodgers how much they liked him and then when he came out changing their minds in the final weeks and passing him over for Smith. Now I pretty much hate the Niners, though that could change. Living in the East Bay, potentially a Raider fan, but really, I am a Cal fan PERIOD. The teams I root for in the NFL? Packers, Seahawks and Eagles, but if the Cal players I root for on those teams left, I would root for their new team. I have decided I am a Cal fan PERIOD.

That's a relatively minor offense though, compared to their poaching Mariucci in 96 and inflicting the Holmoecost upon Cal. There has been a basic conflict of interest between the 9ers and Cal over the years. They've also consistently looked down on Cal talent, the Rodgers fiasco is the rule, not the exception.

I root against the 49ers, and against the Raiders too, because they have been extorting public funds. Al Davis is a leach and a creepy SOB.

My other NFL allegiances are entirely dependant on the number of Cal alums in their rosters. Right now it's the Packers, Seahawks and Eagles.

I root for Cal players in the NFL and their teams. So my favorite teams are the Seahawks and the Packers. Even though I was a 49er and Raider fan growing up, I have zero interest in them now. Now if Boller starts (fat chance), I might become a Raider fan again.

As an Los Angeles native, I belong to no NFL team except for those who have CAL players on them. Currently I'm a fan of:

Packers
Seahawks
Lions
Broncos
Browns

This will most def change the moment an LA team is announced.

I'm a Cal fan first and foremost. I like to see our alumni do well in whichever concern they end up in (Rodgers at Green Bay, Gonzalez @ KC, Lynch at Seattle, etc.), but otherwise
I don't care a snap.

One Bear a decade isn't enough. Pete Schbaurm, Capt. Matt Hazeltine, Ray Wershing, Gary Plummer and Jeremy Newberry, and we're right across the Bay. The 9ers loss is lots of there teams gain. Go Seahawks and Pack and maybe Oakland for right now.

The 1955 49ers was the first sports team I supported. In 1963 I switched to the Raiders. I was A Raider fan even after they moved to LA, until a few years befor they moved back. They played an exhibition game in Oakland that was sold out, and there was talk about them moving back to Oakland. When it fell through, I said 'to hell with the Raiders' and became a 49er fan. When the 49ers seduced Mooch to leave Cal, I said 'to hell with the 49ers' and again became a Raider fan.
During 1970's I worked for a firm that had the Dallas Cowboys as a customer, thus during the 70's I was also a Dallas Cowboy fan.

Most Cal fans run the Giants/49ers preference in my experience.

Wow....I've been waiting for the teenage gangsta opinion to come in from the hood...nicely done from a kid who wasn't even alive when the Raiders were great......

my dad and I were both Cal and 49 fans, but that was in the 50s and 60s..The 49ers used to work out in the summers at St Marys in Moraga and us kids used to ride our bikes out there from Orinda..YA Title, John Brodie, Leo Nomelini, Joe (the Jet) Perry, and our favorite, RC Owens. We met them all and one summer afternoon, invited RC Owens over for lunch. We saw a few games in Kezar and I was more avid then of the 49ers until my dad (Cal '45) started taking me to Cal games. Now? All of my energy goes to Cal on Saturdays - nothing left for Sunday..except Green Bay now for some reason..:p
