Apologize if someone has already done this thread, but started thinking about this today. Based on what I know today, here's my thoughts on next season:

Fresno St: W
Colorado: W
Presbyterian: W
UW: W
UO: L (but, 50/50 - we always play them tight, and we should be improved)
USC: W (we get them at home this year; they struggled mightily last season)
Utah: W (home game; plus, they will likely be intimidated by major conference football)
UCLA: W
WSU: W
OSU: W (they lose a ton, and weren't really all that great last season)
Stanford: L (but, like UO, this one is 50/50 in my mind - losing Harbaugh will hurt big time)
ASU: W (they're terrible)

That's 10-2 prior to any bowl game. I could see it 1 game better or worse than that, so 9-3 to 11-1 seems reasonable. 11-1 would be a very good season, and probably land us in a BCS game. Can't wait!!

I predict 13-0 as usual.

Utah ain't gonna be intimidated. They beat us in a bowl game recently and they beat us back when AR first became our starter ('03?). I think those are the only two times we've played in the last 10 years.

FSU ain't gonna be a cakewalk, either. I don't remember the last time we beat them either. Though I'm sure someone on here will remind me.

09/09/95 - Fresno State 25, California 24 (Berkeley)
09/23/00 - Fresno State 17, California 3 (Fresno)

Even so, I think Cal beats FSU on 9/3/11 at Candlestick.

Dude, we get it. You're a parody poster. Your character is the relentlessly optimistic guy but enough already. You're the same guy who acted like he didn't know the difference between the NIT and the NCAA basketball tournaments. The joke's gotten old.

Those are strong words. We are coming off a losing season, including 3-6 in conference. We have no one on the roster who has proven he can be consistently effective at QB or RB or K. The offensive line is unproven. We are replacing some key parts on defense.

We came close to losing to WSU last year and we can lose to anyone in conference this year including ASU.

All I know about Utah is that they have a proven QB which is more than we can say. They have beaten us the last two times we've played. We can lose to them, too.

I still predict 13-0.

Agree on the question mark at QB - but our defense will be lights out this season; thus, so long as we have a solid running game to open up the passing game we'll be good.

I don't think I can buy into 13-0, but I like your optimism.

rather than being a jack-a$$, why don't you tell me where I'm wrong? I'm not predicting undefeated/MNC type season; 10-2 is very reasonable, and I open the door to the possibility of even 9-3.

Child, please. I'm not going to do a game by game prediction when I have no idea who my team's even going to play at QB. I certainly don't know enough about other teams either right now to have any idea of how our guys match up with them. You don't know either. I'd be shocked if you could name 5 players on any of our opponents. Even if you could, you don't know anything about them.

Your "prediction" represents nothing more than blind hope. FWIW, I hope you're right but if you think that a team that is unsettled at QB, RB, and oline should go 10-2 then I don't really care to discuss football with you.

It would surprise you to learn how much I know... I know a lot. In fact, sometimes I amaze myself with my knowledge.

Many teams have question marks and unknowns, including us. However, while our QB may not be known today, we have 2-3 outstanding, highly regarded players who've now been in the program for a while under the tutelage of a known QB guru. I think I'll take my chances on one of them panning out. Plus, our defense is very well known (probably the best in the pac10), and will be better than last year's version.

- question: did you factor into your 75% chance of victory at ASU for Cal (a) how many starters ASU returns, (b) Cal's desultory road record as of late, or (c) excluding cal, what ASU's average margin of defeat in their 2010 losses was?

ASU is a team to watch for IMO: only 5 road games, and only one difficult road stretch, @utah, @oregon, the other two-game stretch being @ucla, @wsu. if ASU beats Mizzou week 2, they are legit IMO.

the best thing Cal has going for us there is we play after the UA game -- a trap of sorts for ASU.

I learned a long time ago - never say never; never say always. To suggest there is "no way" Cal loses to both ASU & Utah is ridiculous. Hell, Cal could lose to the Presbies. It is unlikely but possible..........

My comments were simply a prediction with absolutely no "guarantees"...

I'll update my prediction:
3-9

Wins against OSU, WSU, Presby.

We're about due for a screw-up game against UCLA.

Colorado looks like a repeat of the road game against Maryland a couple of years ago, unprepared both mentally and physically.

Why the pessimism?
Well, I've been an optimist the past several years, but it seems like Cal has been riding a reputation that has already left the station.

Time for the Golden Bears to start building a new reputation, because I don't see that many people taking them seriously anymore, outside of this forum.

Presumably you know that virtually everyone is picking ASU to be at the top of the Pac-12 south. I'm guessing you consider them to be "terrible" because we creamed them this year, but they were pretty competitive the rest of the year (just as we were pretty bad apart from 3 games this year).

Please direct me to your prediction for the 2010 season - would love to see how you fared ...

Fox Sports is showing the Cal/OSU game right now. OSU, you claim, wasn't all that great. They're killing us! It was 28-0 at halftime; 35-0 late in the 3rd. BTW, Brock Mansion doesn't look bad at all.....the offensive line does. They look like Swiss cheese. Awful, God awful.

My prediction... Pain!

On topic, until I see empirical evidence that the recent issues are solved (road no shows, HS QBing, Special Teams malfunctions, etc.) I see no reason this team wins more than 6 games. I think the coaching reformat offers some hope, as do the recruiting/SAHPC, but I'll believe those translate to a better on field product when I see it.

As an interesting aside, I can see this coming year resembling years passed with an early season ascension crashing back to reality. The schedule sets up pretty nicely for 4-0 as Col and Wash should both be awful and FSU lost something like 18 starters.
