i think we're more talented than FSU, but our "heart" is what has been a question mark in recent seasons.
i hope we show some on Saturday and come out of the Stick with a good win.

Heart? What if your style is impetuous and your defenses inpregnable?
I want your heart

I think we'll be plenty motivated ourselves coming off th 5-7 season and the longer than average layoff.

if Fresno wins it won't be because we have no heart, it will be because we have no talent or are outcoached.... the fear of getting beat by the Bulldogs should propel us to clown stomp them....

Whatever! Everybody will know by 7p on saturday night.

It won't be because we have insufficient talent.

right....in other words, I can't see how we could lose this game unless JT screws it up somehow...

Eh. It's still the bayarea and fresno isn't very good. I have no worries about motivation for this game. Colorado on the other hand.

It's not really our motivation I'm worried about. I'm worried that Fresno St. will have hatred in their eyes and will play like wounded animals for the way we've "dissed" them over the years. I'm sure Pat Hill has told them that this is their one shot to show Cal who they are. Anyway, I think we will find out in the first 10 minutes whether we should be concerned. We knew we were in a for a long night about the first 10 minutes into the Nevada game. Just like the first 10 minutes of the Oregon State, $C games and Furd games. We tend to fold when we are pushed back. Or at least we did last year. I hope this team has a completely different character. Go Bears!

actually i think it's an excellent example, but for the wrong reason. Tenn was coming off a 5-7 season and they came out on fire. as bad as herbstreets predictions generally are i remember his for that morning and it was something to the effect of "they've been hearing all off season about how they aren't good anymore and how Cal is going to beat them at their home and I think they are going to come out and upset the bears." and i'm not sure we weren't up for that game really. we played them decent early. but when we went off the rails we went WAY off them. if we were playing at fresno with 90+K fans i'd believe you, but this is only what 30 miles from campus? if anything we are tenn in this situation.

We played them decent early? If you mean the first play of the game for like 30 yards, then OK. After that, it was a buzz saw. That game I believe wasn't about motivation, it was about nerves and being a little scared.
