Just watched some YouTube highlights of CU-Hawaii. Here are my conclusions:

Offense: Not good. Stewart is a talent in the open field, but their O-line looked like crap, and I don't just mean sacks. Stewart had no room to run. We need to keep him bottled up or it's trouble. Hansen is not scaring anyone at this point.

ST: Not good. But we really can't talk...

Defense: Maybe better than expected. They run a 3-4, are very aggressive rushing the passer and had some success. Hawaii did not really seem to have a ton of success running or passing. But Moniz really took advantage of the aggressive rush and when he tucked it and got past the first wave, there was tons of daylight. Hawaii also successfully executed a few draws and screens that were effective.

So, I conclude Cal wins a low scoring affair. I think the road factor, plus our less-than-stellar O-line will keep our O from putting up big numbers. Maynard could have a huge game, but I'm guessing he will still be a bit rusty, especially with a heavy rush in his face. I think our D should have another great game and carry the day.

How was Moniz - Hawaii QB - as a passer?
Should be good since they like to air it out. Just curious how effective the Buffs Defense stopped that part of Hawaii's game.

Caveat being that I only watched highlights, not the whole game, Moniz was solid but unspectacular. I think he completed ~60%.

He was under a lot of pressure and when he escaped the pocket he really hurt CO but also got sacked a few times. No highlight reel throws.

Not one of his greatest passing games. I think the CU D is better than the score might suggest.

How does CU's defense compare to Fresno? FSU blitzed a lot and got caught by Cal. I hear CU is also aggressive.

Very aggressive. Looked more aggressive than Fresno but again it was highlights. They got some sacks but also got burned on scrambles. Will be interesting to see how they play us. I'm guessing more straight up since they probably will have to respect Maynard.
