Will be at the game, but I hope the stream comes through for folks who have no other way of watching.

If we don't grant the waiver Cal fans in NY will be forced to watch our local game, see the ads and buy the products.

Stream will be on calbears.com All Access: http://www.calbears.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/091211aad.html

It costs $7.95 for a month's access to All Access.

It's probably a cost to produce a game that otherwise would not be available. So if it's to meet those costs, why would it be lame? I'm just happy there's an option. And there is a chance someone may hijack the stream as well and provide it for free.

I'm just going to listen on Sirius.....and tend to my roses .....and dream.......

Cal is going backwards......I may start screaming again......I gotta go.....

Yeah hopefully someone would do that for the less wealthy posters

From what I understand, other teams in similar situations have streamed the game for free. I understand it can't be free, but I also think $8 is a little excessive for a game against a team that's on the bottom tier of the FCS.

To be fair, it's not $8 for the game, it's $8 for the one month sub to all access that you need in order to watch the game. At least you get a one month subscription to all-access (whatever that is good for)...

still, it misses the point. the fact is that you'll be needing to pay $8 to watch a bottom-tier team. many wouldn't even want to watch this game for free, so how would one justify charging $8 for it?? another athletic department mistake in my opinion...

If Bear Insider wanted to provide premium content that was actually of value, the ability to stream Cal FB games would be a great place to start.

Well hopefully, it will break down to 35 cents per touchdown we should be scoring in that game.

Serious question, the "S" word has come up a couple of times on this thread and of course in others for the past couple of weeks. Should we be avoiding that in order to evade the L----- S------ Nazis? I'm new to this French underground resistance stuff.

Well, PRD is going to be at the game this Saturday so no stream from him.

BearMarch has been MIA this season.

Don't think I'll be seeing this one

No --- this thread is about getting a paid stream from an authorized source that gets a waiver from the primary provider (Fox in this case).

The other threads are about, well, they're not about that.

Ironic that someone wants to be careful about what words he posts in this thread, but no one seems to give a darn about the stupid stuff they post in the "other" threads.

Ah, the humanity!

Dang, I have All Access and streaming from a video on my desktop is not that tricky (learned how to do it from Youtube). Sorry.

$8.00 is reasonable. Better than seeing a bad movie.

Who cares about the people who wouldn't want to watch it for free? Complaining about it for $8 is ridiculous. Some people will never be satisfied.

That's why I'm asking, because it's bound to come up again in the future. To be fair, the flurry of these posts have died down, I'm assuming because of posts like yours warning of the consequences. I was asking in case someone does provide one for free this week and beyond, not specifically for this particular thread.

Wow you guys are cheap.

Maybe the people that are going to the game should bitch about the cost of the ticket. After all, they're only going to see Presby. Why didn't the ATO give away those tickets for free?

Wah, wah, wah.

Seriously we're talking about less than the cost of a pizza. Suck it up. Or don't, and skip the game.

you wouldn't pay $8 to watch a cal game? That is not expensive and it's completely reasonable for cal to try to recoup their costs or make money. I'd pay $8 a game to have access on tv, without hesitation. Skip one beer at your next game and it's paid for

i would pay $8 for a game, and have season tickets already. but i know that there are some who find it unreasonable to have to pay for an online stream, particularly for an opponent like the Hose.

Having the option to see Cal's first home game when there's no regular TV coverage, for $8 > no option at all.

The people complaining in this threads reminds me of this:

"Everything is amazing right now, and nobody's happy."

"You mean I can sit here on my couch and watch a football game of a team that I love, and the game isn't on TV? Wow, cool. It's $8? SCREW YOU. THIS IS TERRIBLE. WHAT AN OUTRAGE."

I believe SEC teams have put some of their lesser games on Pay-Per-View for years. What Cal is doing is not out of the ordinary.
Blueblood
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So Cal should follow the SEC....and guess they are too......but Cal's football team is an entertainment vehicle .......

So now that the stream is confirmed, what about the next question for those of us abroad: Will the game immediately available on the site for a replay or do we need to wake up early?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
while I'd rather have the game for free, $7.95 is totally reasonable... especially when you consider:

-it would cost me and my gf $8 just to take MUNI to and from the game
-a beer at AT&T just cost me $9 at a Giants game
-the service charge per ticket (even if you print them) is $3/ea
-you can have a viewing party and have everybody chip in $0.50 and maybe even come out in the black :bravo
-the game isn't televised, but you can still listen to it on the radio for free

Tix for the game can also be had pretty cheap... but when you factor in all the expenses of actually going to the game, $8 seems like a bargain.

It's not the $8 that I mind, but what irks me is that other schools (public, mind you) have streamed their games for free. Getting nickel and dimed $8 just seems a bit bush league IMO.

In any case, I'll be at the game so I couldn't care less.
BombayBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No issues with paying $8, but have any of you internationally-located Bears used all-access to successfully watch a live event in the past?

Just hope there are no territory/country restrictions.
TightwadHill99
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Have used the live audio feed in the past (which was also a paid feature), so I'm hoping the video stream will be OK as well.
Blueblood

You express my thoughts exactly pingpong2.....bush league......it may be too because Cal is playing out in the bushess still instead of the South Bends or Ann Arbors........like Cal's rival.......tten season my @$$....

Yes, but it's now appearing that this may have been a glitch in their system. My subscription to All Access has suddenly stopped working.

Update: It definitely works abroad, at least the live and archived versions of Cal vs. Fresno State worked.

Sounds like live events are archived between 24-48 hours after the event, but that time can vary. Let's hope they can turn it around quickly this time!
Cal88

That's the main issue here, Pete, stream quality. $8 would be a no-brainer if the stream quality is OK, especially since the money goes to cal.
