He's had two ACL injuries in the last year or something? I would say if it's possible for him to do more work to reduce the likelyhood of that happening again he should do it. Is he going to be wearing a brace do we know? He sounds like another Chase Lyman - great talent, but just can't stay healthy. I pray for the kid. It really sounds like another injury is right around the corner for him.

His knees are in fact stronger than they were before his 2 surgeries. It's been at least 1 year (which is 6 months more than a non athlete needs) since his last surgery. He will be good. It's more psychologically him learning to trust his cuts again that concerns me.

This.

And that's why I'm happy to hear the coaches think he's ready to go this weekend. Sounds like he's turned the corner mentally as well.

right? I'm happy for the kid - his joy for the game can be infectious and I can't wait to see him running around the field.

I also think the injury risk with him is overblown. He had one knee injury which he reinjured after coming back too early. Given that he has a cadaver tendon in place of the injured ligament, I don't see why his risk would be any higher than anyone who's ever had an ACL tear, and in fact it appears to be lower with respect to that knee since the tendon used to replace his ACL is much stronger. It's not like he's Frank Gore (who blew out each of his knees in college on separate occasions), oh and by the way even Frank Gore's knees have held up after a number of years in the NFL.

You are completely wrong in every way--like you're trying to be wrong.

--It has been more than a year since his last injury.

--Doctors have said that his knee will be technically stronger than before because a cadaver tendon was grafted onto his torn one.

--Doctors have cleared him 100% for contact.

--How is he like Chase Lyman? He is 100% healthy right now.

Are you predicting a future injury just because he had one in the past? News flash, football players get injured. Yes, even perfectly healthy ones.

Don't forget that tendons are WAYYYYY stronger than ligaments (which is what he tore), so it's not just doubling up. If anything he may be even faster than before.

We should see a lot of rushing attempts this game. That's the typical Tedford modus operandi once he gets a big lead. Maybe 40 carries. I don't want to see a lot of designed carries for Maynard or KA. Don't risk those guys against Presby. I want to see a lot of RB carries spread around. As in 3 or 4 guys each with double digit number of carries.

glad, the dust has settled on this one.....obviously Tedford isn't going to run him for 20-something plays .....they'll break him in slowing like in the last 3 minutes of the game no matter what the score is......I know Tedford......if he uses Bigelow any earlier then Cal is desparate and well Cal should be.....Pac12 team can't avg. 120 yards rushing unless the passing game is 300+ yards and expect to win games......

I love that udub will only have one week of tape to prepare for him, if that. They'll likely be dizzy from a drumming in Lincoln, and Bigs will be blowing by them like a gust of wind.

And this is why I'm clamoring for AB to play an entire half ---- with a FULL playbook.

I asked about that, too, but the response was less direct:

Q: "Ideally, how much playing time would you like to see Bridgford get this week?"

A: "No idea. We have to be ahead in the game, obviously. It depends on the flow of the game. You'd hope that we're in position at some point to be able to get him some playing time."

I think that's a safe assumption. He just doesn't want to say that.

Wonder how they're getting tape of the non-televised Presby game. Contribute $7.95 to Cal for All Access?

My opinion of how well this team does this year just changed for the better. Bigs, if healthy, is a game changer. We are talking Javid Best type game changer. Wow.

Wow!!!! I believe you have never seen the x-rays for BB and have never personally spoken to his doctors. You have no idea how his rehab has gone, nor have you ever spoken to his therapists or to BB himself. Yet you believe "another injury is right around the corner." Wow!!! Well informed post. Want to speculate if he will be in a serious car accident? Drive-by victim? What else?

no they're mad at the Cal ATO too and will avoid out of protest. :chainsaw
(I kid... I'll be at the game so who needs a stream?)

Honest answer they'll likely scheme by watching film on best.
