To be extremely frustrated by this team when they enter division play. I envision many close games lost because of either penalties or bad decision making on Maynard's part. I do however think that if everything comes together and that Tedford can tighten the screws we have a legitimate shot at something pretty special. This season should really show if Tedford's coaching skills are still what they once were.

I really don't think we will lose many close games. We've only played in one close game thus far and won it in clutch fashion.
I think this team is going to win 8-9 games this year.

Well...we're still in the National Title hunt...thats good.

Cal hasn't played anyone..but most of CFB hasn't played anyone either. I guess Furds win vs Duke and San Jose are solid...earned them a #5 Ranking.

You realize that last year we were 3-6 in conference play right? If we go 4-5 in conference play this year, it will still be a 2 win improvement over last year, plus we get a bowl game.

Exactly. A 5-4 or 6-3 record in conference is far from unrealistic. We can beat Washington, Oregon State, Wazzu, UCLA, and probably win one or two games against ASU, Oregon, Stanford, Utah

Yeah maybe....but I'm going to hang onto my seat anyway as Cal goes into conference play...the mistakes and errors that Cal seems to repeatedly make are not ones that go quickly away after a week.........

I thought Trevechio was kicking squibbs by design but a high school coach next to me said he thought he was just having trouble kicking off the dirt and that it is a big problem.he was puzzled why, after several bad attempts, Cal did not try another kicker, especially in this game.The Pres kicker out did hime, which should not happen.

good observation oskidunker I too would have to say the PC kicker was doing better than Cal's kickers....especially their punter.......

It should be an exciting game. I doubt either team will be able to stop the other. If we can stay even or positive in the turnover department and the refs don't give us the dog bone we may be able to make a game of it. I expect Washington will be favored. I don't think any of the Pac 10 games will be easy. If we can win 4, I'll be very happy.

We'll be having Maynard discussions all season because I think his mo seems to make a brilliant play interspersed with careless and the odd bonehead ones. He's never going to meet the AR standards of near perfection. Despite that I feel a lot more confident with him at QB than the whole Riley era. He delivers when you need it and that is the test of a quarterback.

My prediction is a win vs. UW and then three straight losses. And yes the board will meltdown at that time...

I think this game comes down to our pass defense. If we can can get pressure and have a solid days from our CBs I think we take this game

Udubs defense doesn't look that good to me, and if we can keep the turnovers low we should come out ahead

I'm guessing the spread is going to be about 6.5 in favor or Udub but CAL has more play makers.

I predict at least one close loss this year due to special teams.

I think we'll be frustrated at times during the game but I think Cal can definitely get this one against Washington, I think Maynard is going to be have to use his mobility a bit more. My only concern is their recieving core, i think we can contain polk and those tight ends.

Tavecchio seemed to kick off fine from the grassy end and then squibbed from the dirt end so I thought it was the dirt too. I'm not too worried as the whole field will be grass by the next home game.

Next week is the first real test of the team....my guess is we'd better fasten those seat belts. WU is winnable.

Why the kicking game remains suspect after 10 years of Tedford is beyond my comprehension. It is one of the weak points of the JT era.
