I didn't see the stream of the game. How'd Maynard play? Thanks.

Uneven. Had some good throws on seams routes and crossing patterns, but also had a few misses to wide open receivers. The tightens dropped a couple of easy passes, or else his completion percentage would've been in the mid 60's.

On the other hand, he didn't have as many running lanes as he did in the first game. Either he's conscious about developing a pocket passing game or the opponents are doing a better job scouting and bottling up his lanes. Given Cal's physical superiority, it's probably the former.

But this might change with Bigelow and CJAnderson in the mix, The opponents D will have to account for 2 more players (one who can pound out 5-10 yards; the other who can take it to the house). May give Maynard some breathing room.

Threw a pick (this time a pick6) and another ball that probably should have been picked off (the pass to Jones that started with the very high snap). Hopefully he breaks the streak next week....

Many have said, "If only ZM would cut down on his INTs." If he starts to get that into his head, he will become tentative.

He is what he is - a gunslinger. You take the occasional pick with the good. He will get marginally better as his subconscious mind figures it out, but he is not going to be a 65% guy over the long haul.

Let him play his game. I was skeptical, but am on board now. He's fun to watch with a couple dashes of heartbreak thrown in.

agreed. he can't be scared to throw into windows. top NFL QBs still throw INTs once in awhile.

Exactly.

INTs will keep coming. (I think he will end up with 10+ INTs for this year.)

Forced throws to double-triple coverage will keep coming.

But he's a good leader and will make some great plays that other QBs in the past couldn't.

that's all well and good, but i expect this site to have a meltdown when he has his first 4 int game and we lose because of it. i like the kid, but he needs to make better decisions sometimes.

Agreed. He'll need to get faster into reading coverages and going for the underneath route from time to time. I'm okay with him forcing throws on third down, but he can't always go for the deep man on first and second. He's missed a few wide open players for what would have been huge gains.
