In case there's any doubt about him being full speed yet, he told me that it's still kind of hard to run with the brace on, but he's working at it.

Lets continue to be patient about him, even though I know we all want to see him tear up the Pac-12 right now. Personally, I don't think he'll be at full strength until next year...but if there's a secret weapon hiding on the team, he'd be it.

He was asked by a reporter about his knee after the Presby game and he responded that he thinks the brace limits his speed. Sounds like the brace is going to be on for the rest of the year, so I agree with you that we won't see him at full strength/speed until next year.

So why did we burn his redshirt again if he's not 100%?

I'll bet the brace is on purely for psychological reasons right now...once he feels more confident taking hits and making cuts, I'll bet it comes off....when that is though is up to his psyche.....of course I don't know if Dr's want him in it or not but I would think it is a mental thing now....

As has been mentioned, because he's a singular talent who is unlikely to spend 5 years in Berkeley. Also, getting him game action this year in whatever shape he's in will only serve to make him that much better next year. Having him run around on the scout team just isn't the same. Finally, even in his limited form - he's by a good margin the fastest RB we have.

Good answer. You nailed it.

I am so tired of hearing this question over and over again.

Feel free to keep posting about accepting the 4th and One penalty against Washington, though. I never tire of that one.

Are you sure he is a good margin faster than the other backs particularly Lasco? You may be correct but I don't think he is YET.

What has Lasco done that makes you think he's so fast, exactly?

Both Scout and Rivals report a 4.4 40....he has always been heralded as very fast...

Most Impressive: Lasco possesses excellent overall speed,

So he could be used at meaningless times against a 1-AA opponent.

his HS highlights certainly suggest he is very fast for his size.

Of course, if you have to preface something with "for his size"...then he's probably not in the mix with a kid like Bigelow that ran a 10.6 100 as a freshman or sophomore or whatever it was...

Lasco is timed at 4.4 in the 40 and his last times are 10.77, 11.03 in the 100 meters.

According to rivals and scout, the Fresno WRs will run circles around our entire D.

Dude, seriously, what was the deal with that guy Wylie? He flat out is not fast, I'm sorry. Maybe he's quick, but he gets run down from behind consistently, easily. Even his youtube highlights are him getting run down from behind! Sub-4.3 speed? Please.

This wasn't a knock on Lasco. I actually thought about mentioning him, but since he is indeed blueshirting I didn't include him as being in the mix. I do think that Bigelow is at least a step faster than Lasco given that lots of players, etc. talked about how fast Bigelow looked at times in camp without the same kind of talk about Lasco.

I guess if JT declined the penalty and Washington went for it and made it (it was less than a yard) you would also play Monday morning QB.

The poor Fresno fans aren't used to Pac-12 speed! Also they confuse straight lime track speed in shorts with football speed with pads and making cuts.

Regardless of "tenths" of a second in the 100 meters, I'm looking forward to seeing BOTH Bigelow and Lasco next year.

Glad to have them both. It might be like "pick your poison" for the other team.

if i had to guess, it is probably the equivalent of best's speed vs vereen's speed. both were fast. best just a little bit faster

The reason that Lasco is blue shirting is because JT and RG want him to be around 215 lbs. The reason Bigelow needed to burn his is because he wont be here for a 5th year for sure.

It seems to be a wide-shared assumption that Bigelow won't be around for a 5th year. Is it based upon a belief that Bigelow will soon be in high demand by the NFL? Because so much has to fall in line for that to happen, the odds are actually very low. So far all we have seen of his potential is the long KO return against woeful and discouraged Presbyterian. When he becomes a regular starter, then I will begin to take notice.

This kid has had two major knee surgeries (on the same knee) within a year. He needs to be brought along slowly. What if JT immediately started him, as some of you want, and he re-injured the knee. Do you think there would be any second-guessing on this board?

I don't see Bigelow as an NFL back, doesn't have the size/strength in what little of him I've seen so far. I see some here saying that he won't be here for 5 years so we should burn the blue shirt and get what we get. I shrug and say I don't get it, seems like a huge risk to bring the kid along so fast after not playing for 2 years and having a really major physical injury that he is still dealing with. If he really is an NFL talent isn't that a huge risk to his future income? but time will tell I guess, no skin off my back either way.

I also don't see Bigelow as an NFL bacck - today.
But in three or four years? Under Gould?
The young man clearly has talent.

If his DOCTORS cleared him, what more do you want? People are so hung up on the injury, and being off 2 years. Doctor clearance is not good enough anymore? In this day of being very cautious now? Really?
