No, Harbaugh was clearly behaving as a total a$$, breaching protocol and showing remarkably poor sportsmanship. As OneKeg pointed out, he has a long track record of doing this during the post-game handshake. This of course does not exonerate Schwartz, his reaction is at least as bad.

Yup. Those who think Hairball did nothing wrong clearly weren't on the receiving end of that backslap and had to watch him jumping around on the field like he won the Superbowl. It was bad sportsmanship by both coaches, but was started by Hairball.

He may be a good coach but he's an immature a$$hole. Ran up the score last week (lost a receiver because of it) and then lacks the self control to pause, look his opponent in the eye and say "nice game".

His bad karma crash will be epic.

If you're a niner fan go to the niner board and post how "awesome" he is.

I'll take Tedford over any coach...if it's the 8,9,10 win Tedford. Yeah I like winning but I really appreciate his low key, respectful attitude. Sportsmanship to me still counts.

Excuse me, you'd take losing instead of wining in the name of sportsmanship?

For people here to still bag on Harbaugh over NOTHING when he is raging in the pros strikes me as rather pathetic. We have WAY more serious problems on our Cal Bears than being concerned about how the ex-Stanford coach behaves after another professional win.

So all you think we should talk about on here is how bad we are, what are problems are, and how things suck.

I knew the second I saw the title of this thread what it would turn into. That strikes me as rather pathetic.

I would love to see that jerk laid out. Even his brother, when told of the incident, kind of conceded his brother is a jackazz.

Schwartz was talking crap when Harbaugh threw out the challenge flag on a play and got penalized for it.

Schwartz is a pompous a$$ and deserved a "tough hand shake".. Cry me a river. It's nice to have a coach showing emotions instead of 3 predictable runs up the middle and a "hit em in the mouth" slogan.

Some people never change. I love niners. Been a fan for last 20 years. I am truly ashamed that Harbaugh is our hc. The franchise had classy coaches like Seifert and Walsh. Now we are stuck with this total a$$hat.

Walsh used to criticize his players in the press. I never dug that.

Watching the tape, unless Harbaugh said something really untoward, I don't see anything so terrible about the "handshake." Harbaugh was obviously very revved up and also in a hurry, it appears, to get to the locker room and congratulate his players.

I mean, it's not like the two head coaches must hang around and jovially shoot the **** for a while at mid-field. I don't think that's required.

I saw another angle and it looked like Harbaugh slapped Schwartz pretty hard on the back. Then Schwartz said "WTF" and Harbaugh responded something with the word F in it.

Harbaugh's attitude seems short sighted to me, it's unlikely that he's the next Bill Walsh, he's burning a lot of bridges with people. If the winning stops his punk ass bs will get old real quick.

Personally, I think anyone here who still thinks they would prefer Tedford is being disingenuous. I don't see how Harbaugh ever put Stanford into disrepute, and his program just got better and better. I WISH that was Tedford.

Yeah. I used to say I'd take Tedford over Harbaugh, but now I find myself wondering the hell I was thinking. I'd rather have the coach whose team was completely skullf**king us 45 to zip on our own field last November.

Ding ding ding!

I don't think most have the full story.

If you watch the clips from this article I don't think Harbaugh was in a rational state of mind. He was off the charts amped and he ran into Schwartz at the worst possible time. He certainly should have been more composed, but obviously the two coaches were on opposite sides of the emotional spectrum. I don't necessarily think either man was wrong. Stuff happens.

Yeah, what is the whole story?

I saw the game and saw Harbaugh throw the challenge flag and looks like a complete idiot for using it incorrectly. It's hard to tell but it did look like Schwartz was yelling something from across the field.

If this were the case, he deserves just as much of a jerk response in return, especially after a loss.

However, just watching the video of Harbaugh in the end is just embarrassing. Where's his sense of decorum? Coaches should always have a respectful handshake at the end.

Schwartz totally lost it though, too, at the end running after Harbaugh and chest bumping him. Lol WTF.

They both ended up looking like idiots.

With that said, hey man, it's entertaining in a Jerry Springer kind of way.

If by "misunderstood" you mean Harbaugh thinks he is the second coming of Jesus and that seas should part before him, then yes, perhaps he can't understand why no one bows before him and kisses his feet.

Harbaugh did NOTHING wrong. He was happy that his team won a VERY tough game. Schwartz was pissed because he lost a tough game. The whole thing is WAY overblown. Both coaches behaved a bit childishly, but no big deal.

Harbaugh's team won the game. He couldn't take a moment from his little celebration and shake the other coach's hand with some sincerity. Most coaches will maintain their composure and express some humility to the other coach. I believe the video shows Harbaugh shouting something like "Wooo!! F&%K Yeah!" as he shook Schwartz's hand. Harbaugh is just a douche.

Schwartz was pissed because Harbaugh didn't show him any respect. Didn't even try. He shook his hand and then pushed him out of the way so Schwartz wouldn't kill his buzz.

Sure Schwartz shouldn't have chased him, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have chased him too. Someone needs to deck Harbaugh. :hammer:

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

If you want to show up Hairball, beat the 9ers on the field. Simple as that. I doubt he will be chest bumping after a loss. Hairball is clearly not a class act and a douche (lame handshake after Cal beat Potato Head in 2009, thank you Mikey Mo).

But he has done an amazing job w/ the 9ers. No doubt. Honestly, I could care less if JT (or the next Cal HC) showed the same kind of decorum after a big win. If JT had chest bumped Tepper and slapped Hairball on the back after that 2009 win on the Farm, I would have ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.

Very few here would have an issue (or certainly less of one) if it was a Cal HC being a douche.

Coach Harbaugh was pretty excited about the win, and the handshake / pat on the back was sloppy.

I'm not shure what transpired verbally---Coach Schwartz said it was a profanity---but in any case it took Schwartz a few seconds to react. If it resulted because of the indirect exchange/comments (Schwartz to Harbaugh) following the illegal challenge of the reception for the Lion TD (JMO it was a catch) then maybe there were some "in your face" / "what's your deal" comments.

Schwartz was disappointed over the loss, but he over reacted. It's done and over and probably forgotten...there's another game play.
