A colleague who is a Texas alum (and subscribes to one of their pay sites) told me that in an interview w/ their site that Treggs would have a genuine interest in Texas, but that Texas hasn't reached out yet. Apparently he met a few of their verbals at that Nike camp earlier this year and that those recruits are talking about Texas to him and will attempt to have Texas reach out to Treggs. He was quoted as saying he would have a strong interest if they reached out to him and would definitely take a visit if offered one.

This could be total internet BS - but thought I'd pass it along.

Moraga - have you heard anything on this front? Given that he's a legacy I can't see him making the switch - especially with Kline coming in.

Treggs is all Cal as a recruit can get. Don't worry about it.

Bryce has tweeted about this time several times, that he is solid to CAL. He also has tweeted about how much the doubters annoy him. HE IS as CAL as it gets PERIOD

Treggs is enjoying the recruiting process, just like Shaq. Why wouldn't he want to visit Texas? Austin is a fun town.

Nope, other schools should be concerned about the other recruits on officials that weekend getting sold on Cal by Treggs. :cheer

ok, probably not but:

1. it's recruiting, don't worry about it
2. I'd love a free trip to check out gameday atmosphere at a lot of these schools.

what does that even mean? because Gilbert got beat out and is transferring, all current players and recruits hate Texas? OK....I guess any recruit should ask Joey Ayoob or Kevin Riley about Cal then, right? Because they got boo'd, it must be a bad place to go?

Treggs actually told the moderator of Texas' Rivals site that he is interested in an offer and visit to Texas. This was Monday night / Tuesday afternoon, something in that timeframe.

True Texas insiders are taking this as a ploy from Treggs to increase the number of offers he has. Gamesmanship, if you will. Texas had not made any contact nor has it expressed any interest. My friend with the ties to team told me that the quote surprised them. Texas is invested in the race to get Dorial Beckham-Green's commit, and they are also actively pursuing Arik Armstead (OT), Andrus Peat (OT), Del Barnes (QB), Trevor Knight (QB), Daje Johnson (ATH), and Corey Coleman (ATH).

In short, Treggs is not on Texas' active recruiting radar. I would be very surprised if anything comes from this in the subsequent weeks.

This is somewhat true. Off the top of my head it was something like this. Conner Brewers father came up to Treggs as he was dominating at the opening and said have you should come to Texas to play with my son. Treggs responded something like they aren't recruiting him. So Mr. Brewer was like if they were would you be interested. He said something sure of course. So Mr. Brewer was like ok you will hear from him...that was months ago.

This is very interesting, but again, I don't think Texas coaches are recruiting Treggs when there are more likely to commit targets closer to home. Corey Coleman and Daje Johnson are not consolation prizes.

There is a perception that # offers helps enhance recruiting rankings, etc. Sometimes it is ego. I don't have the answer for Treggs. I have never met him or his family, so anything I say about his motivations for increasing his offer list purely speculative.

re: Daje Johnson - I think I'd read here that we are after him as well (despite being a Texas Tech verbal) - anybody know where we stand with him?

He's a TCU verbal, visiting us in early December. If Texas is in on him then we might have a tough shot at pulling him away, but anything can happen.

Maybe Bryce is using this as an opportunity to travel and recruit for Cal..... It could happen

Yes, him and Shaq at the Notre Dame game might bold well for us, hope they recruit Armstead and couple others hard for Cal.

Don't doubt the kid, he's as strong a commit as Zach Kline. No need to second guess.

It's tough to watch those five star legacies go somewhere and have no desire to play for Cal.

Guys like Garrett (during recruiting, before he stunk it up at Texas) Gilbert and Christian Westermann, all five stars, didn't even bother with us. Hope Rodgers have 11 sons.
