In the past few weeks, I have spoken with several parents of current players. They do sometimes read these boards and they don't generally like what they read. The parents dont think that posters have a clue about football or what D1 football players face. Several fathers said they cannot regularly read the boards because the posts make the fathers angry.

Those parents must have sons at Cal - smart!!

We have what's called free speech in this country .... so perhaps the parents should distance themselves from the unpleasant.

and a bit sad that some of you think that Coach Tedford or anyone outside BI actually reads this..and/or takes it to heart..plus or minus..

The only thread I wish the coaches had read is the one from last week with the 'spy' pictures of Slick Rick watching the nevada tape in his office.

the rest are just noise.

The parents don't think posters here have a clue about football?!?

What about great ideas continuously repeated here, like... "Bigelow ought to play at running back because I watched his high school *highlight* video and he looked really good and really fast playing against high school players in the selected highlights on the video, so I know for a fact he would do well!"

Oh, "we" know football all right...

PS: Happy Birthday, Coach Tedford!

Whatever you think about the man, today is his birthday. His 50th Birthday.

I'd like to start by publicly stating that I'm thankful that he's raised the bar for achievement on and off the field for Cal football.

He's also given Cal donors with little or lots to give reason to do just that and fund the SAHPC and the renovation of California Memorial Stadium.

GO BEARS!

11/02 is also my wife's b-day. I used to wake her with "Happy Tedford Day" but the plan yesterday was to say "This day used to mean something." However, I didn't feel that was appropriate given that I awoke to her in intense labor (hours later she was given birth to our 2nd son). I really hope that Tedford gets this thing turned around and I get to tease both my wife and son with "Happy Tedford Day"... but to be honest, I'm not optimistic.
