just got beat out by a Buffalo transfer. I'm thinking we still have room for upgrades to our QB depth. It's big-boy football now, remember. I'd take Heaps in a second.

I didn't follow Heaps much this year, but I remember him having a really good true freshman year and seemingly backing up all his HS prestige. What happened for him to have such a problematic year that he'd lose his starting job and end up transferring?

and get a degree from the best university in the world and set themselves up for life. Isn't this what we are all so eager to point out as to why any recruit should come to Cal. Playing time is not a guarantee anywhere (as Heaps found out).

Please no Heaps. After Maynard leaves, we'll have a stable of QB's. Brigd maybe for a year if her pulls it out. Hinder and Boehm have potential. Kline looks like the future...I like where we sit. Heaps had the chance. He decided to faux wank it out in Provo. Snooze you loose. Kline for president.

I see the next few years going as such. Maynard in 2012, bridgford in 2013 and Kline in 2014-2016. Boehmite and Hinder will be forever bench earners sadly.

You wouldn't have to worry about Heaps' blue balls since he is married. What you have to worry about is how much of a Kyle Orton 2.0 he is with his terrible pocket presence, lack of mobility and inability to handle pressure. The kid is a locker room cancer and a pouty little baby, not what we want at CAL. But hey, maybe I'm wrong about him and all he needs is a change of scenery as opposed to fighting for his job to succeed. I don't see him cracking the 2 deep before he graduates. I go to BYU, have season tix and live across the street from the stadium; I have seen the good and the bad with him (when I'm not home watching my Bears) and he is not someone I would want leading my team... Simply because he is not a leader.

Remember, I believe Kline helped in recruiting a lot, and helped possibly with some guys on the fence.. He's been all Bear!!!!

I honestly don't think anyone will transfer from Cal right now or next year.<br />You do not have to be a starter to get value out of 4 years of <br />being on the Cal team. With the high performance center, players <br />can develop and improve themselves. Players from other top programs<br />like $C have made it to the NFL without being starters. Remember that one of the main reasons most players come to Cal is to get the education. <br />I would be surprised if Hinder or Boehm left Cal. Remember Mansion was highly regarded but did not get any playing time until Riley got injured. Why didn't he transfer?

I think a lot are hyping Heaps based on his high school history. He may have potential here, but it remains to be seen. Whatever his potential is, I'm happy to welcome competition and let the best emerge through practice.

I've not heard once from any reputable source that Heaps is "favored" to go to Cal. It seems like Internet idle chatter, and Faraudo is simply repeating it. <br /><br />I also don't think Tedford likes taking on transfers who are potential headcases (and BYU fans all seem to think very lowly of Heaps). Maynard might not be a great QB (and was at times very bad), but he has put in the work and the reps to become a competent one. I'm not sure if Heaps would fit in.
