Great news!<br /><br />I imagine that family is none too happy with Lupoi, but glad to see they're objective enough not to write Cal off because of one bad apple.

I'd have to think (hope) that if we're in, he knows something we don't (like who we're talking to). When we lost our last OL coach, we went for Coach M and managed to do ok with our class. Pure conjecture, but if we're going to be optimistic.

I've been told by multiple sources that AA was a done deal for Cal before yesterday and now "we" are completely out.

Don't kill the messenger. Darby, a 5-star lockdown corner just decomitted from ND, so I know how you guys feel. Reports are that AA is considering waiting until fall, yes. Not sure who that favors, but as an ND fan, I'd rather his decision come now and EE rather than drag this out.

The truly kool-aide drinking take on that is that he is signaling that our DL hire is going to be critical. <br /><br />Maybe too much to read into it but I bet that Younger brother learned a lot about the business of college FB from watching Trojans screw Armond. Taking time to make the right choice about a potential multi-million dollar career seems pretty darn smart.

Arik has until January 24th to enroll at either Cal, ND, or Auburn if he's going to EE. Honestly, I wouldn't get your hopes back up about him. Perhaps Cal still has a chance since he's considering waiting, but it looked like he was Irish and now, just my gut feeling, is that Auburn is being considered more than we thought.

I think waiting to enroll is the smart thing to do, and that's only partly because I think it benefits Cal.<br /><br />Think about what a rollercoaster this family's been on over the past week or so. Learning Armond and Arik wouldn't be able to play together in the P12, close to home, then dealing with that only to have someone you thought you could trust turn out to be a total snake oil salesman mere hours before Arik's announcement and days before Armond's. I wouldn't blame them if "we can't trust anyone but each other" was the theme at the Armstead household. I know that's how I'd feel.<br /><br />In the end what this comes down to is a potentially multi-million dollar decision for them as a family. They have to do their due diligence to make sure they give both brothers the best chance to succeed. Not to mention that they actually care about each other as people, and want to see each other happy and fulfilled.<br /><br />I'm obviously biased, but as long as Cal makes a solid DL coach hire I think all the factors that reportedly had Arik all set to be in class at Cal today will still win out in the end. Waiting gives him time see that hire, take a step back, reevaluate and make a completely informed decision. I'm sure it's frustrating to have the rug pulled out from under you like he did but slowing things down is what I'd do too.

Anyone part of this recruiting class will play with a chip on their shoulders. they will be difference makers in his monumental cal class.

He was having trouble deciding before Tosh left. I can't see him deciding with any confidence anytime soon now. EE sounds like a shaky idea. Maybe we can hire Eric Lorig to take over his recruitment.

Jeeze, everybody needs to get a life. It strains credulity that someone has taken this long to make up his mind, and yet still hopes to enroll by January 24 or whatever. You come to Cal, and you still have to go to class. What is he hoping for, some cool Nike swag?
