We didn't lie to you, but Coach Sark and UW is committed to change football up there. They are bringing in the best coaching talent and need the talented players (like you) to help us turn the corner."

"You can be part of the stellar class that we're building and be a part of that starting dynasty. You have a chance to be great and a legend for UW."

"Cal will always do well, JT is a great coach and they will always get talent. But you have a chance to do something magical with us."

"You don't need to commit or anything to UW. You can still honor your commitment to Cal and we won't be hurt. You will be fine there. But just come visit us this weekend and see what UW has to offer first. See what you can be a part of, and then you can make the decision for yourself."

They have something to sell, and it's something that JT sold to recruits when he first got to Cal.

How should Cal counter?

1. Find better replacement coaches immediately (better be an upgrade in coaching ability)
2. Pitch the long-term picture of a college decision:world-class education quality, alumni, strong community support, life after football opportunities
3. Understand that Tosh and K were a big part of their recruiting, but the culture of a team that promotes family and togetherness is at Cal. It takes years to form those bonds and build a culture to where it is. UW's culture will be very different, and will not get there overnight.

and look what it has to offer. That's what I'll be doing. I just came for the money, I have no idea what it has to offer. I didn't even know how to get here because I'm always riding in a team bus. I'd love to tell you about Coach Sark but I don't know how to spell his last name so I call him Coach Sark and I write Coach Sark. I'll tell you more about the school when I figure out what its strengths are. And Seattle, well, I don't know much about it either. It usually is butt cold when I come up but I hear sometimes it gets nice. I guess I'll find out this summer. Anyway, I'm sure glad to be a, oh what do they call that dog, oh yah, a Husky. You will too, Jordan. Trust me."

I don't want any kid to come to Cal that even comes close to falling for this line of ****. Yes, the coaches are one reason to go to a school. But when you see a coach do this then you have to think the coaches are very low on the list of why you'd pick a school. They could be gone in a second. They could be gone before you even show up on campus. So you evaluate the other criteria and make a decision.
