Dang, that weather forecast would hurt even the best of us. I like to take walks outside during the evening. I wonder if people in Seattle get used to walking in the rain with an umbrella always at hand or do they just wear rain gear all the time?

The main difference is that the rain in Seattle is mostly light mist and continues over many days whereas the rain comes down in occasional torrents in Phoenix. And the driest place in the US is Sequim, which is across the Puget Sound from Seattle and shielded from rainclouds by the Olympic range.

The lodge on top of the falls was having a special brunch and the parking lot was full. It was overcast with a light mist, One person, this Californian, was wearing an Eddie Bauer Goretex parka to stay dry, no other rain gear in sight. Yes! Seattle does not precipitate much but it is dreary and overcast from mid-October to June.<br /><br />June through mid-October is spectacular.<br /><br />And yes, there really is a Sequim (pronounced Squim) hole!

The real sh** of it is that you never get a nice day here, OK, never may be too strong of a word...but virtually never, from Nov 1 to March 1st. And even more frustrating is you can have and usually do have really crappy days in the summer. Everyone of those is a possible good day gone forever. <br /><br />Yes, it's not the rain.
