Let's hear the real version. Not the sugar coated one. Don't we loyal fans deserve that??

I think that we do, but I also think that now's not the time for it. It's time to circle the wagons around JT, Gould and company and go to the finish line with a great class.

Don't hold your breath. Anything in more detail than we have right now is going to be strictly off the record and not written down on a forum. Cal (Tedford and Barbour) clearly want to cut ties and move on cleanly, publically, as evidenced by their PR. Anyone who is hearing the program's side from a source close enough to know anything is going to want to respect that.

We're obviously not going to hear anything from the other side either, they're going to want to move past this ASAP and pretend it never happened.

So... I would not expect more to be revealed on the board.

This should not be a hush-hush story shared only on the premium board, or any Cal-fan board for that matter. Everyone in the college-football-world should know what Tosh did. He should not be able to hide from his actions. This should follow him forever. It should be aired in full with no dirty detail left unwritten.

This is so far beyond the average coaching turnover. To$h and UW need to be exposed for their actions and take ownership of them.

I disagree. To$h proved himself to be a scumbag, there is nothing to be gained by going there. The more I hear about this, the uglier it is and the more apalled I am at To$h's behavior (Sark - already knew he was a lowlife, no surprise there).

In the end, we need to focus on the things that make Cal great, not the poor decisions of a few bad apples. If JT hires a good replacement, finishes with a great recruiting class and we go into spring with a solid program, that's what's important. When the dust settles, we'll be grateful the cancer is gone and maybe a little more careful about conferring god-like status on an assistant coach in his twenties who hasn't proven his character.

The more I hear about what happened, the more inclined I am to think the "faking injury" thing was actually his idea. It was a slimy, To$h-y thing that was very out of character for a Tedford team. After seeing how this went down, I don't believe he was thrown under the bus, but called out for his questionable character, something that's shown itself to be a patten in the character of this loser.

Others had done it.

Because the game was so close, Oregon made it a big deal about it and Tedford was probably sanctimonious about it (he still should have taken responsibility publicly). Enter Wilcox his sympathetic adviser (a little pissed at Tedford himself?), who gets in his head promising to hire him at his next stop--Tosh leaves for big money to UW where he can take his revenge on Cal and Oregon. Sark's big money includes the assumption or incentives that Tosh bring in big recruits, maybe Cal's maybe otherwise, but Cal's are the ones Tosh can get.

In retrospect I suspect that Lupoi did instruct the players to fake cramps to slow down the tempo and JT was caught completely off-guard. I'm not sure that in those circumstances JT should have taken responsibility for it, other than to say he was sorry for the actions of his team and that proper actions will be taken - which is pretty much what he did, correct? This makes me think JT is perhaps TOO ethical to run a championship football program.

Unfortunately in business (and apparently college football) it is very difficult to rise to the top without cutting corners or at the very least pushing the envelope. If JT refuses to do this, then we can be proud of him but probably cannot expect a top level team with any consistency. I will further speculate that despite of all our beliefs that Tosh wore a halo and never told recruits "what they wanted to hear", he probably did tell them what he need to to get them to commit which is why he was so good.

There are two separate clusters here and neither one absolves the innocent party:

1) The national recruiter of the year at $164k while HC is @ $2.3 million is a sad joke. Sandy/JT had over a year to fix that and did not. #fail

2)Dumping a load on your alma mater on the way out the door. It's clear to me Tosh did not care what damage he caused Cal. These are the first modern facilities in the history of Cal. You don't try to burn that down on the way out the door just because you don't like your boss. Unforgivable no matter how bad JT bungled his relationship with Lupoi. He is no longer a Bear.

That those who are disappointed at being dumped by Tosh (in a money move that few sane people would reject) now try to absolve JT of his mismanagement (paying Tosh too little, not giving him more money preemptively, and throwing him under the bus for the fake injury scandal) is as laughable as it is predictable (think "confirmation bias" in flashing neon).

Look - coaches coach. That's all. They have an influence on recruits. That's their job. But don't let them young MEN off the hook. Theu are either chosing the path for the rest fo their life - ie Kline , Treggs, Okefor - ro they ar e using their mini-celbrity to get adult to dance for them - ie Thompsom, McCarthy. Etc. At the end of the day - its up to these young MEN to make a f'ing decision!!

Quit whining about Tosh's salary. How many 29 year old football coaches are making $164,000.00 per year, with the probability of making much more as promotions occur within the organization? He might have been making even more than reported if certain donors gave him a bonus based on results. But if you need to blame Tedford or Sandy and it makes you feel better, go for it. You're obviously an underpaid, underappreciated, incomplete human being anyway.

No matter who was at fault for the injury thing if he really loved Cal the way he said he did then he wouldn't have done what he has done the last few days. There's almost nothing that could justify what he did. Like CalGaoTe said earlier, hopefully these recruits are men enough to see he is such a slimeball.
