Two gatherings tonight in SF:<br /><br />One at the Royal Exchange to watch the Cal-Arizona basketball game. Gathering begins at 6 pm. Sponsored by the SF Cal Alumni Group.<br /><br />The other also starts at 6 and is at the Bear Republic--kind of a post National Signing Day get together. Ryan Gorcey has been tweeting about this one. <br /><br />Hope to see you at one or both, though I'll probably opt for the Bear Republic gathering first. I'll be wearing a camel colored sport coat and a blue shirt with tie. First BearInsider to say hello gets a beer on me.

What the heck... skip the Royal Exchange. All you guys should be taking BART across the bay and watching the Cal - Arizona game in person!

Can you tell me where the Bear Republic is located ?

I have been known to frequent The Republic, but from now on I think I'll call it Bear Republic, makes it feel more like a Cal bar. If I can leave work at a decent hour I'll try to make it.

Not to beat a dead horse... especially since I'm not one to speak, since I've made pathetically few games over the past few years...

... but we're awfully close to a sell-out. And it would be nice to build up some momentum in at least ONE Cal sport!

Honestly, you should be reprimanded for suggesting people NOT go to the game tonight.

Shameful, considering how big of a difference it makes. There are bars in Berkeley. Go drink before/after the game. You can go listen to the postgameshow at Pappy's and do both...

"Shameful?" Really? Here I thought I was being a nice, friendly Bear inviting my fellow Bears to a positive, social event where we could all celebrate Cal and hoist a few in the process. ReasonableBear, I'm all for supporting the team and I do support the team, both in person and elsewhere. But there's more than one way to do that. Getting together with other Old Blues to celebrate National Signing Day is one of those ways. Not everyone can make it over to Berkeley for one reason or another but if you want I'll be glad to stand up in both places and tell everyone present that you think it's shameful that they're not all over at Haas instead of gathering together as friends in another locale and cheering for the Bears from a distance. Just kidding, my friend. Have fun at the game. Cheer for me and I'll drink a cold one for you. :beer:

I'll take you up on your offer. How bout this, I'll buy you a 12 pack of beer, pay for your BART ride, and call your wife/gf to tell her where you are and then I'll get you home after the game. Now, what is your next excuse?

Since I know you won't come to the game, I would settle for a video of you making the proclamation that you offer to make at the bar tonight...

"more ways to support the team?" - Tell that to Mike Montgomery and the players when you're drinking in SF...I'm sure they will feel the support from there. How does your NOT attending the game support the team?

Honestly, this is a big game tonight. Montgomery is pleading with fans to come to the arena, and clearly you're a man of means and can afford a ticket. And you care enough about Cal to try to organize a drinking event around watching the game... So why not just take the next logical step and come to the arena and make a difference.

I didn't organize either event. The SF Cal Alumni Association organized one and based on Ryan Gorcey's tweets my understanding is that Bear Territory organized the other.

Haha, two thumbs up to all of the Bears involved in this .. er.. dog-fight. Win win for all!

Now if only someone could convince Amtrak to add a train going back up north *after* the Cal game tonight, and I'd be drinking a few beers myself.
