I hope they are dazed and confused (I doubt it) when we go up to the Shoe.

Urban Meyer, at Florida, almost pulled a Lute Olsen Retirement Tour act (health... I'm out... no, I'm back... no I'm not... blah, blah, blah), except he was a quarter of a century younger.

How long is he gonna last in Columbus?

"One issue Bielema would talk about—and it’s perfectly legal under current NCAA rules—is Meyer’s recruitment of players who already had given verbal commitments to other Big Ten schools. It has been a longstanding “gentlemen’s agreement” in the league that coaches wouldn’t recruit players who had publicly given commitments to schools. "

Say what? If that is the gentlemen's agreement, there are no gentlemen left in the game. And the Pac-12 just got a lot dirtier than the SEC in this regard.

Is it safe to presume there's no "gentlemen's agreement" in the P-12?

I would think there's a difference if the recruit makes the contact - that is, let's say a recruit verbals to School A, but still is interested in School B and reaches out - seems like that would be fine.

I think the issue is that Verbals have become, for some of these kids, meaningless.

The interesting question from a marketing standpoint is whether it hurts or helps the product (how about THAT for money talking?). I can see from a pure marketing standpoint this drama is worth gold. Whereas people would be skiing or thinking about hoop or dreaming about cabo we are hanging on the tweets of 18 year olds and reading the posts of dried up would-be journalists.

I actually think, as much as I have followed it, Diggs is being smart for the long term Diggs brand. Don't commit. Wait until you are alone on the stage, and make your pick. I want a Cal hat on the podium at least ;-)

He retired because he was getting his head handed to him by Saban. The assumption now is that he won't have to face Saban/Miles/Petrino up to four times in a season to get a shot at a national title.

Guys verbaled to other Big 10 schools before OSU had a coach. Then they go and hire one of the best coaches in the country. You think some of those verbals wouldn't mind going to OSU now. Seems totally fair to me. It would get a bit slimier next year if a kid makes up his mind and then Meyer keeps hounding him and flips him. It doesn't sound like that went on this year and none of this is even close to what Louprick and Shart did.
