Did any of you guys watch the game that just finished? US was down 0-1 to NZ until Morgan scored in the 88th minute to tie it, and then again 3 minutes into extra time to pull out a win for the US.

Point taken, but its not like she's getting a $ 30 m signing bonus or 40 mill 2 year deal. Pretty clear reality is their sport doesn't go anywhere without the players getting males to pay attention. Wambach may go down as best player in US history but she's not cute like Mia. Hope probably helps keep her spot by being someome people want to SEE. I was surprised she went so full monty, its a shame that that's the way it is, she is feeding the beast, but in the end I'm not sure I can blame her. Fwiw, I have lost most interest in SI swimsuit ( boring) but I'm looking forward to this one now.

You are not alone. However, it's her choice and it's not wrong to appreciate her beauty. I also would hope that a Cal grad would make better decisions, but that's neither here nor there. Do you want to dump on her? That's gotta make her feel great about herself. She's promoting herself and her sport, which is good. I wouldn't want my daughter to do it the same way, but don't be so judgemental.

extreme, maybe...but Ive lived in the middle east (Dubai) and the minute those Arabic girls show up to the hotel/club, they take off their abayas in the parking lot and underneath they're wearing clothes that are showing off what they got.

Its not about dignity, its about what makes them feel better and if a bunch of cavemen drooling over them make them feel more beautiful then whats wrong with that?

Actually I find this kind of thing fairly complex w/r/t the Women's Rights Movement. That movement was all about giving women more opportunities for what to do with their lives, right? Well, someone like Alex Morgan is actually a terrific example of that, being someone who got a great college education and is now making a career playing a sport that historically has been a men's sport. This is all good stuff that wouldn't have been possible if not for that movement.

She has now decided to pose in a body-paint swimsuit, but I would argue that a key word there is "decided" -- it is her choice to do this photo, and based on what she has already accomplished as an athlete it's clear that no one could force her to do this if she didn't want to. She has the autonomy to make her own choice. Given that, is it a bad thing if she makes the choice to make herself attractive to the opposite sex? IMO, there's a difference between something that's exploitative and something that's simply sexy. I'd argue that this falls closer to the latter end of that spectrum.

I'm appalled that there are MEN here who feel somehow qualified to know what is in the best interests of Alex Morgan. She is a pretty gal who is proud of her body (rightly so) and is marketing her rising popularity. If you have a problem with the choices that she has made, maybe you should look in the mirror - the problem is yours. Chastising or limiting a choice that a woman makes is far more sexist than anything that she does.

If you don't like what she has done - don't look.

There is NOTHING 'Neanderthal' about people appreciating the appearance of those of the opposite sex. Hate to break it to you, but biologically, that is WHY we are here.

Seeing as how women's pro soccer is on the verge of tanking, I believe this years season has been canceled. She's making a living for herself, and I find it hard to critcize her choice. She's doing what she loves, soccer, and is trying to make the best possible living situation, something all Cal grads do. If this gets more visibility to her and her sport, all the power to her.

my favorite SI issue was the one following swimsuits where the moms would write in about SI corrupting their precious baby and how they were cancelling the subscription right then and there. THOSE were REALLY REALLY funny.
