After decades of watching inept coaching on the basketball court, including the reigns of Herrerias, Padgett, Edwards, Kuchen, and Bozeman, I gave up going to Cal games and attended CCSF games instead for several years. Great coaching, great teams, each one different, and championships. I came back to Cal games in the Braun era, and now Montgomery.

Now that I am a little older, I am less willing to put up with incompetence, and I see a lot of it on the football field, much of it related to coaching. I've given up my football season tix for this season, but will attend a couple of games and watch the rest on TV. Another year or two of mediocrity, and I'm gone, probably to watch CCSF football games. As a fan, I confess to being pretty lame. I don't mind losses, I don't mind being overwhelmed by superior talent, but I can't stand it when we play stupid. It leads me to question our academic reputation.

I am an atheist and from my perspective, Harold Camping is much more respectable than other religious people who insist on vague predictions that can never be proven wrong. When the Rapture doesn't happen, Camping is willing to admit he made a mistake. Without getting into some religious discussion, the reason religious people, at least Christians, say this is because that is what is written in the Bible. I'm not asking you to believe any of it but a Christian would take it by faith that only God knows when the rapture will occur...
