He's part of class of 2012, not 2013. He'll be in fall camp.

I like the pickup, but I haven't seen the tape yet. More depth at LB after we lost Whiteside (I really really really hope he can make it back) can't be a bad thing

This was also my first thought.

Davis has gained 30 pounds since he prepped at Pinole Valley, so the film may not be worth much. He's an athletic dude though, was a good high school hoops player in addition to football.

Considering this is a late add to the 2012 class, it's a very good one.

It's pretty evident from some of the published recruiting stories out there that Thompson is high on this kid. Thompson was hoping to keep him under wraps a la Mike Mohammed, but word was starting to get out, which is why they are offering to have him come in after his freshman JUCO year rather than enroll next spring. As an added bonus, he has some highly regarded teammates that we are recruiting for the offensive line.

He's 6'5"? Would seem to make him one of our taller LB's, at least in recent memory. 4.0 GPA. Nice.

Not sure how I forgot about Chris! Loved watching him play. Looked lost and awkward at times, like a puppy excited, sliding around the floor trying to regain traction, lol.

Again, this scholarship doesn't count against next year, but this one, where we left some on the table, right? If so, really nice work.

I don't know Antoine's 40 time but his Contra Costa freshman sseason video shows he's explosive off the LOS and gets to the QB very quickly from either DE or LB positions. He can run, too. S&C this summer could have him reporting to Fall Practice with 20-30 more pounds of muscle on his 6'5" frame.

Love this story.

Antoine Davis is a perfect example of a kid that was a full qualifier out of HS but used junior college to better himself physically and become a D1 recruit.

Just goes to show that not all juco kids are there because of academic issues.

I thought there was still hope that Whiteside might come back :-(

Recall he qualified academically but chose to play at Butte rather than walk-on. If this kid is Mohammad like, we will be loaded at LB. BTW, some guys are posting on the private board if Whiteside goes to JC and improves his grades and work habits, he could come back to Cal. [Editor: delete this last sentence if inappropriate].
