This is the fourth Dodger- Yanks WS where the Dodgers have a 2-0 lead. They won one. Walker Buehler and a bullpen are not Koufax.

No doubt. Dodgers choke a lot, this is tough to argue

The giants exceed expectations when they win a single game

I'm glad my team exceeded expectations in 2010, 2012 and 2014!

And Yankees and Sharks won tonight! Seriously, were airplanes even invented in 2014? That was a long time ago. In 2010, Kevin Riley was our QB, leading us to 5 wins.

These morons got kicked out of their World Series seats in the 1st inning for "interference".

Riley was our QB for part of the season. He was injured at Oregon State, if memory serves.

The cherry on this one is Walker getting a save. I won't be complaining about Roberts use of the pitching staff any longer.
A long time coming and well-deserved.

Go Dodgers

One of the most enjoyable and fun seasons I can remember. Hope those two dirtbag Yankees fans that tugged on Mookie enjoyed this one.

Well, I can't say they haven't won once since Reagan was president anymore. Enjoy it, Bear-Dodger fans. They won it and deserved it.

It is interesting to think how the Dodgers have evolved over the last 4 years, though. Not long ago, the Dodgers were a homegrown juggernaut. It felt like wave after wave of prospect hit the majors.

Now, almost every contributor in their lineup was paid for or traded for - Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Teoscar, Edman. Even Muncy was not a product of the Dodgers system. Similarly, if they're 8 pitchers tonight, only 1 was a Dodger system product.

Their trajectory in this sense reminds me of the 90s-early 2000s Yankees (but the Yankees homegrown crew won multiple titles before they began transitioning to paying for free agents).

That is not to take anything away from the win. As I said, they won and deserved it. Paying for a title should be the goal and I hope the Dodgers win forces the Giants to open up the vault. They can start by throwing $800M+ at Soto.

Will Smith and Gavin Lux were Dodgers prospects

But, yeah... the days of Seager and Bellinger are over.

Dodgers have been pretty good at trading prospects for contributors, though.

I mean, they landed Edman and Kopech for three highly rated prospects. Those two guys absolutely carried them at times in the playoffs.

Incredibly good trade even if those prospects pan out.

Pretty much, yeah. I kind of thought this cake was baked once they signed Ohtani. They were far and away the best team at that point.

Pretty pathetic showing by the Yankees in this final game, too. Really looked like a team that doesn't practice defense at all.

The Dodgers were not far superior to the Yankees. It took a two-out, two-strike 10th inning HR in Game 1 and a dropped fly ball in Game 5 by an outfielder who had not committed an error all year. Otherwise it is 3-2 Yankees heading back to L.A. Several of LA's star hitters very much underwhelmed in the WS. They had only three serviceable starting pitchers, the ace of whom got shelled a couple times in the playoffs (Hershiser he was not), the other two of whom were injury prone and somewhat to very suspect coming into the playoffs. It was not a foregone conclusion that they would pitch as well as they did. Buehler had about five times as many bad starts as good ones over the course of the season. LA was lucky he found the magic in October. I don't believe the bullcrap that he needed the pressure of the WS to find his groove. He was lucky to find it when he did. Has any team won a World Series with a three-pitcher starting rotation? The bullpen was good overall but not invincible. In Game 4 when they had to let some low leverage guys eat up innings, they got exposed. In Game 5 they must have had 6-7 walks and hit batsmen and were somewhat lucky not to give up more runs than they did. And Roberts got a little lucky that he had enough arms to finish the game. To start the 6th, he had Treinin, Hudson (who had been shelled the night before and was tired) and Buehler, a started on one day rest, and whom by his own admission he did not contemplate using at all until about the 5th inning of Game 5. Can you imagine if a tired Treinen got shelled in the 6th? Would Flaherty be jogging out to the BP? Ohtani?

LA very easily could have been knocked off by SD in the NLDS also. SD had them on the ropes and let them off the hook.

If you don't think LA was a little lucky in 2024, ask yourself if they were in any better of a spot entering the playoff than they were in 2023 and 2022 when we got knocked off by AZ and SD. As a Dodger fan I'm not complaining but I don't feel like they were a juggernaut in 2024 by any means, mostly due to the incredible number and severity of injuries to the pitching staff. Hopefully they stay healthier next year. I'm just saying there was a fair amount of luck involved. After 2017, you could say they deserved some good luck.

Speaking of injuries, why do you guys think Tommy John surgeries are given out like halloween candy to pitchers these days? Pitchers certainly throw harder than they did 30-40 years ago. If you don't throw 95 these days you throw like a girl. But is that the reason?

This was the big missed opportunity IMO. I think San Diego could have gone all the way if they'd gotten past LA.

They could have used another bat, like idk I don't want to be crazy or anything but they could have used Juan Soto. lol, what am I saying that's crazy.
