Well, I can't say they haven't won once since Reagan was president anymore. Enjoy it, Bear-Dodger fans. They won it and deserved it.
It is interesting to think how the Dodgers have evolved over the last 4 years, though. Not long ago, the Dodgers were a homegrown juggernaut. It felt like wave after wave of prospect hit the majors.
Now, almost every contributor in their lineup was paid for or traded for - Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Teoscar, Edman. Even Muncy was not a product of the Dodgers system. Similarly, if they're 8 pitchers tonight, only 1 was a Dodger system product.
Their trajectory in this sense reminds me of the 90s-early 2000s Yankees (but the Yankees homegrown crew won multiple titles before they began transitioning to paying for free agents).
That is not to take anything away from the win. As I said, they won and deserved it. Paying for a title should be the goal and I hope the Dodgers win forces the Giants to open up the vault. They can start by throwing $800M+ at Soto.
