For any of you who still live in the East Bay and are not planning anything else for this Saturday evening, I recommend the following event, chronicled here on Yelp, for something different which can be fairly inexpensive and looks like fun:

It's basically a pub crawl, with a bunch of different options for each time period, showing off art, music, poetry, you-name-it, at various locations in uptown Oakland, while you quaff your favorite beverage and/or just soak it all in otherwise.

I've heard about this for awhile, but haven't taken it in yet. I'll be taking BART in from Contra Costa and seeing what this is all about. Sounds like a good way to spend a Saturday evening.

Note: The name Beast Crawl doesn't come from Marshawn Lynch's "Beast Mode", but rather the fact that East Bay is pig latin for beast (get it?).

It's a lot like LitQuake for those familiar with the SF version. First Fridays Art Gallery/Party on Fri followed by Beast Crawl on Sat- Oakland will be full of fun times this weekend for those who aren't going out of town.
