from the man in charge:

No. Cal Athletics has Saags as a sponsor of the hot dogs/sausages everywhere within California Memorial Stadium with the exception of the two areas on the East side.

I emailed the guy back and told him we would eat before we get to the stadium, as we usually do. Seems like they are passing up revenue.

Shawn LaPean [lapean@berkeley.edu].

If enough people tell him they might eat outside the stadium, maybe he will take another look. If you think this is a bad idea posting his email, let me know and I will delete it.

I usually eat plenty before and after the game anyway. Too focused on the game to be eating too much during. It's not like baseball where eating is part of it. Football is intense and needing undivided attention, standing and yelling. I get hoarse though by the end of the first quarter. I have to pace myself.

Probably a bad idea. Grab your Top Dog on your way to the stadium.

I really hope they installed a few new drinking fountains. $4 for bottled water is absurd.

Buy them from the frats selling them outside the stadium for $1.

Even at $1 it's about an 800% profit. They sell at less than $4 for 36 bottles at Costco.

one of the articles about this mentioned that there would be a limited number of booths serving Top Dog because Top Dog was worried about quality.

What if the stadium Eastenders by TD's in bulk and re-sell them to Westenders at slight markup?

Always thinking Bearister. The after-market Top Dog vendor. Look for @bearister's holster bag full of Top Dogs on the west side. Law Dogs by Saag. Only $8 each.

Thanks for posting this oskidunker, just sent an email. Kinda silly they'd leave the ESP donors out of the Top Dog experience.

Wait a minute...I buy cold dogs from Top Dog often...they ARE Saag's sausages...perhaps people don't know that...so why would there be a problem?!?!?

It's possible Top Dog doesn't have the staff to cover more than two stands. There's usually only one or two employees at the Top Dog on Durant, even during busy times. They still have to staff their brick and mortar shops before and after the games, as we know they're quite busy.

With the ingredients probably being more appropriate and fitting of the name...

At a football game, I only munch on snack foods like corn nuts and drink water (both in my "man purse"). Top Dog and beer before, and possibly after. I leave my seat as briefly as possible for a bio break or two, and well-timed at that... I sit at the end of a row, right next to an ADA platform, so these should be very quick trips.

A Top Dog operation in CMS that makes for comparable wait times as seen at their locations would be a fail in my book. And, if the dogs are moved faster, more-or-less ready to go upon order, like at the concession stands, that is apt to make for a compromise in what we know as a Top Dog.

Even if Top Dog was on the west side at a decent price, I would not be interested. As someone said earlier, for a baseball game, or like event, sure.

Top Dog ships me the Saag's sausages and the buns in the mail. This is a MUST for any remote Bear.

Maybe this deserves its own thread but I was looking at the Top Dog mail order menu and realized the menu has evolved a bit over time.

Here's the current menu:
http://www.topdoghotdogs.com/themenu.html

I have eaten at top dog a 1000x but I've never once ordered:
Lemon Chicken
Chicken Apple
Bird Dog
Veggie Dog
Linguica

I don't remember most of these options from my days as a student except possibly the Bird Dog. Anyone know when they came into being?

Also, they used to have a "New York" which was very similar to a Top but it's no longer on the menu. Maybe it was redundant.

Meh. Not interested.

The only good Top Dog is Durant Top Dog
