I used to think he had some zip on his ball but today it was like he was doing rhythmic gymnastics with a beach ball.

So, what's new. All of our QB's have been awful since Nate Longshore got hurt. Tedford wouldn't recognize a good quarterback if he hit by one between the eyes.

Ive seen Bridgeford now in highschool, in a highschool all star game, in spring practice, and in scattered real game action. He has failed to impress every single time. He's another heir to the legacy of ayoob, longshore, Riley, mansion, sweeney,and Maynard.

Bridgeford throws as well as most any other QB. It is our coach and the coaches he hires. Their system and coaching style is done. They've ruined enough young QBs. I'm tired of hearing how bad these young guys are. It's not them.

He couldn't have been this bad in High School....didn't he break all of Mark Sanchez's record there?....you have to be able to chuck the ball at some point...no, I think it is a combination of JT not coaching him up right and his mental make up is similar to Riley....miss easy throws cause you are too pumped up or too stressed out...with nothing to lose, Riley was good, as a starter, he over analyzed.

Longshore at one point, for a stretch of about 10 games was a very good qb. Riley was a good qb. Bridgford is HORRIBLE. I hope he never takes a snap again unless it's BG of senior year and he gets to do the victory formation after Kline has secured the win.

Give Bridgford a break.

This is only his 4th year in the program.

It takes at least 7 years to master the Tedford playbook.

Riley at least threw with authority. Bridgford has nothing on his balls. Most other QBs we have had in just a few series make at least one play where you think "If they could just do this more"--I have yet to see that in Bridgford who now has had more attempts as a backup than any Cal QB under Tedford and has the lowest QB rating of any QB under Tedford.

We need someone who can come in and move the offense (8 yards in nearly a quarter?), challenge maynard for the starting position, but definitely prepare to be the starter next year. If Kline is the presumptive starter next year, then redshirting him is a mistake--he should be playing this year and competing for the starting position this year.

longshore lit up shitty defenses at home with the likes of Alex Mack, Desean Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, craig stevens, lavelle hawkins, and Justin Forsett helping out a tad. Granted, he's better than bridgford. And no, Riley wasn't a good qb. He was impressive in high school but regressed every year in the jt SYSTEM.

He's never had zip on his ball that I can remember. But he was accurate and very productive in high school in a competitive league.

What the heck happened to Tedford? He performed miracles with Boller and discovered Rodgers. Now, he can't coach up elite 11 QBs into even serviceable ones. Either he no longer has the hunger like when he first arrived at our program or he simply lost his ability to be an effective coach. Either way, he needs to go. We need a coach like Saban. Wins 2 national titles but still puts his foot on the gas. Yells at his own guys in 20 point blowout wins over ranked opponents on national tv if they screw up even something minor.

I'd take Bridgford over Maynard. Bridgford's failing today is part and parcel to Arroyo/Michalzcik failing to establish a running game early and craptastic playcalling. Maynard isn't progressing and hasn't figured out that you need to get the ball out quickly.

I don't think it's fair to go after Bridgford. There were probably 3 or 4 drops on balls that should have been caught. Perhaps his first pass of the first game was a bit under thrown, but still a catchable ball.

Bridgford was terrible. Maynard was WORSE. And Maynard has had a lot more playing time.

That is being generous. Bridgford has completed 35% of his passes over the last two years (12.5% today). He has the worst QB rating of any Tedford QB--worse than Ayoob, Sweeny and Mansion. 8 yards over one quarter? And people want him to start over Maynard? Wow.

The point is, if Maynard's 127 QB rating last year was #71 (actually #69), where would Bridgford's 89 QB rating last year have ranked?

Maynard's 148 today maintained over last season would have been in the Top 25 last year, whereas Bridgford's 20 QB rating today...

...perhaps my eyes were deceiving me or there was something with the angle...but every pass but one that Bridgford threw looked like it could have (and maybe should have) been caught. That was a LOT more than i could say for Maynard, who was over throwing receivers by 10 yards not even giving them a chance at the play.

watching the replay now (was at the game earlier), and yes, most of the passes were catchable. Nevada made a lot of good def plays on the ball to jar or deflect the pass, but accuracy was MUCH better than ZM.

ZM overthrew a corner route by 10 yds (Tebow-like); under threw a KA post route that would have been a TD had he lead it further; skipped a WR screen pass on the ground. His footwork is horrid. Either it's happy-feet, hold the ball too long, hold it like a loaf of bread, or flat footed at the snap and drop-back.


What the hell is our QB coach doing? jeebus. Maybe Daft wasn't that bad...
