Should Riley have been fired at OSU after 3-9 last season?

Well, Mike Riley started his career at Cal under Mike White I believe, but I don't see him leaving OSU, honestly....

Cardinal's take is a little dated frankly....facilities at OS are solid; not Nike U's, but solid....recruiting is MUCH improved than 10-15 years ago....he's not doing this with all 2 and 3 stars...

And middle of nowhere? Please....one hour and 20 from Portland.....Pullman, now THAT is middle of nowhere...Eugene ain't exactly a metropolis either....and besides, being in a small college town isn't the worst of all things, EVERYTHING revolves around the university, sort of like midwest schools....so there is A LOT of support for the program, and the media is fairly tame compared to the big city programs.

Just my take on it.....

ArcadiaBear - agree with all your posts on this thread. It is a pleasure to read them.

Thanks

To be honest, I love Cal Football and it would bring me the ultimate joy to have us finally win some big games.

I have to admit, Tedford seems to relate well to some players, and he is a pretty decent recruiter for the time he has been here. I do, however, believe that he is not that great in getting players to play above their talent level or near their talent level.

A lot of the posters in this thread are right. With our talent, why shouldn't we be performing better than we have been performing? We have exactly 1 upset that I can remember to our name since 2006 (Stanfurd 09). I would be happy with a few upsets here and there, even if it means us dropping a game we should win. B/c that shows to me that Tedford is able to get more out of his players.

Stanfurd 2012 would be a great start

A) The season is still early. Lets see where both teams finish.
B) The key difference between Riley and Tedford, is that Tedford is to Ben Braun as Riley is to Romar.

Tedford has made BANK beating up on the zonas, Washington State, Washington (pre Sark) and UCLA (along with sisters of mercy in our OOC). Something to be said for that but he can't get it done against oregon, USC and increasing the rebuilt Furd. Riley struggles, for interesting reasons against those teams but, up until the last 2 years, he has always had at least ONE signature upset. That keeps excitement high.

Or put more simply - everytime Riley takes the field, especially at home, I think he could upset anyone. Not a sure thing. Not even 50-50 but it could happen.

Did ANYONE in their right mind really think Cal had any chance last week. I know I didn't
