I can see why you're so high on our chances, given who we have beaten so far this year.

I don't mean to be facetious here but why do you even follow the team if you have no hope of ever winning?

Well, let's just say I've not been real worried about how quickly the Pac 12 finishes their negotiations with DirecTV and AT&T Uverse. When we finally get around to changing our head coach, my hope will be restored. Until that time, we're just searching for teams that are at our level or worse so we can squeak out a few wins here and there.

If you can't see that that is the truth of our situation right now, then best of luck to you.

I've been rooting for the Bears for almost 40 years and have seen my share of ups and downs. Doesn't stop me from cheering for my team. I don't understand you. Maybe you should root for $C? Might be a better fit for you.

That's nice. I've seen my shares of ups and downs too. Enough downs to know when a team needs a change. We're overdue at this point. I don't begrudge you your desire to show up and cheer, but it doesn't deserve a medal either. You choose to do what you want if it makes you happy. My choice is to find more productive things to do with my time instead of having to watch bad football.

Fair enough but why frequent these boards then? Commiseration?

I never bet online, but when I saw Furd was only -6.5, i went to some really sketchy offshore site and put down $100 on em. Hope my CC company doesn't get mad.

LOL Glad your money went to the caymans! Never bet on Stanfurd. You aren't a true Cal fan.

I never get what I want - at least recently. I'm going to go glass half full here and say this must be lining up for something really good happening college football wise sometime soon.

I know its not quite husky stadium, but still, UW fans are much more rabid than Cal fans, unfortunately. i don't think its going to be like playing at AT&T last year.

Nice work on the +225. Upper deck half empty, but the huskies still pulled it off. And yes, ATT was 1/2 empty on the lower deck, so what can we really say?

The only way I could bring myself to even watch this game was to put money on UW to win (+225).

I still don't believe furd is as good as people are thinking. they seem to have sc's number, plus the game was at home. lets see how the new QB does in his first real away game.

I know UW is satan, but if furd is able to beat a somewhat decent UW team, in what will be an extremely hostile environment, at night, then its going to mean very very bad news for Cal for this year and possibly the next few years. It would mean that furd is actually pretty legit, and its not just Luck and Harbuagh. that would be bad. really bad.

UW on the other hand, who cares if they win a few games. sark is going to sink that program eventually. furd is the much bigger threat in the long run.

Sadly you may be right. I still stand by Stanford's D, but tough to watch our QB and WR play. Tough to watch our coaching, too, come to think of it. 3rd and inches in the first half and we run our FB, when we've got Taylor itching to go? 4th and 4 at the end and we throw a jump ball to Toilolo agst. their best DB? Yikes. May not just be Berkeley that has coaching concerns. There may be less history to go on with Shaw -- not abandoning him yet -- but scary bad, if you ask me.

Dude pretty sure GoldenYears is trolling as a Cal fan. All his/her posts are like this.

This is why I found it surprising that so many on this board were rooting for stanford to win. Stanford lost arguably the top football coach in the world. They also lost the #1 draft pick and a slew of other top draft choices. Most teams don't survive that. So I'm surprised that no one else was frightened out of their minds that Stanford seemed to be rolling along just fine without them all. If Stanford just goes into UW and rolls them, it means that they might just keep on rolling. It also might have meant that their program might actually be an elite program, even without harbaugh and luck. that would be very very bad for Cal. In my mind, stanford is a much larger threat than UW (no matter how much we hate UW).

But now that they have lost to a very so-so UW team, its very possible that furd is going to follow Cal's footsteps. Peak for a little bit, lose your star QB, maybe have a couple decent years after him; but then inevitably falter under the weight of incompetent coaching and QB play.

Its still too early to tell which way the stanford program is really going to go. But at least last night was a step in the right direction.

And for all you stanford fans out there; yes, you have a very nice front 7. However, as every Cal fan can attest to, having a nice front 7 doesn't mean crap if both your coach and QB suck.
