The more I think about the whole Tosh-gate incident last spring, the less I think it was a big deal. What he probably did that he shouldn't have, was start recruiting Shaq to UDub on his last home visit while still officially on Cal's staff, and standing up poor Tedford at the airport. In the scheme of things, I don't really care that much about those things anymore. Losing the recruits that were loyal to Tosh and not Tedford is what most Cal fans were probably actually angry about -- losing Armstead, Shaq, Payton, McCarthy, etc. All those 4 and 5 star recruits that had long suffering and low expectation-having Cal fans dreaming of that Rose Bowl that Jeff Tedford would finally bring to Cal. But that's all indicative of how valuable Tosh was and how insignificant Tedford was in recruiting.
Anyway, I don't think what Tosh did was worse than Tedford allegedly throwing Tosh under the bus when the whole fake injury scandal came to light. I'm not advocating Tosh for DC or head coach after JT is fired, but I just don't think he really burned his bridges at Cal in retrospect. In the end, it's pretty petty and comical really that Cal fans can still be so bitter about what Tosh did or didn't do last spring. Tosh is a former Cal football player/graduate/coach and did far more for the program than any one on this board has ever done.
Tedford, on the other hand, has brought his short-lived success and turnaround crashing down in the past few years. It will take a couple seasons at least with some good staff to turn things around with recruiting and on the field. I don't even want to think about how much this year's class is going to suck.
