PAC-12
Cal
Colorado

Big Ten
Purdue

ACC
North Carolina State (Dave Doeren)
Boston College

SEC
Tennessee
Auburn
Arkansas

Kentucky (Mark Stoops)

Big East
South Florida

Smaller Conferences
Western Michigan
Idaho (Paul Petrino)
UTEP
Southern Miss

Seems like we would not compete for a coach with most of these schools, just based on geography.

What does geography really have to do with a head coach? What ties did Mike Leach have with the Pacific Northwest, or Todd Graham with the state of Arizona? It's all about finding the best candidate, period. I do agree that we're probably fishing in different waters than some of those schools, though. Tennessee will probably end up paying someone a lot more than we will, and we should be looking for better candidates than Kentucky, NC State, and the smaller conference schools.

Add Purdue to the list. Danny Hope just got the axe. Also just heard a pretty wild rumor that NC State has been in contact with Washington State coach Mike Leach.

Geography comes into play when it comes to recruiting. But you can always get an assistant for that.

I wonder if NMSU fires walker, and if we could get him as DC

Don't quote me, but I think FBscoop said yesterday that Walker was most likely out and that he expected him back in the Pac as a DC.

The Cal job is in a category all by itself for a variety of reasons, including location and facilities. This might turn some candidates away, such as those who are dead set on the SEC or want $4 million + per year, but make us very attractive to many others.

Boston College, as expected, has fired Frank Spaziani.

So add Purdue and BC to the list. Expect a few more before days end.

Thanks guys, added Purdue and BC. I have also heard some rumors about Pinkel at Missouri, but will wait until confirmed.

Did you see over $11 million was spent by Auburn to kick out their coaching staff? wow.

Jon Embree out at Colorado. Another Pac12 opening. Put it on the board.

Add Jon Embree at Colorado to the list. He just got the axe in Boulder.

Also read the Pinkel Mizzou rumors, plus there are some rumblings that Mike Leach has already talked to NC State. Crazy time of year!

Also suggest www.coachingsearch.com

It's more accurate (called the Leach thing out as being BS, which it was) and the best part is it is run by the brother of Football Scoop's owner (allegedly Pete started Scoop and then they fought and he started Search). Occasionally there are veiled comments about each other in the ticker (hilarious).

Just its preference. Head Coaches may prefer to work/reside in certain areas over others just like most human beings

Right but why don't we let them individually make that determination for themselves rather than us projecting something onto them?

I wonder if JT will be getting any of these interviews. I could see him in the ACC or big 10, or at Colorado.

These 12 will turn into 24 or 25 when all is said and done as the pieces start to shuffle around.
