A coach that is offensive minded is what we need, I would rather watch a 56-49 shootout, then a 6-3 snore fest.

Let's build a $321 million dollar Sports Facility and bring in Gary Andersen to lead the way. Not impressed.

Eh, what's the difference between "Just win baby" and "Win, and they will come". Do you really think that you are posting to a bunch of idiots?

I'd prefer to see a killer defense myself, but you're probably right. More people want to see pinball numbers.

I'd like to see both.

I like the idea of filling up the stadium, but maybe that's asking a bit much to fill it all the way. There are too many vomitories that would have to be plugged, and all the seats would be underwater. But now that the field is several feet lower than it used to be, maybe we can just fill it up about eight feet or so, then stage mock naval battles with miniature galleasses full of capuchins on meth. I'd pay to watch that, yeah.

Found this, I like him a little bit more, but still think we can do better.

Yeah, screw the false dichotomies--I'm cool with winning 70-0.

Yep. As long as we're AGAIN throwing hypotheticals out there.

As we all know, we need to make a big splash with the new coach, create a buzz with ESP's and recruits! Need to go big, last thing Cal needs is more empty yellow seats!

Would like to point out that the team most likely to win the conference has one of the best defenses in the country. And an ok offense.

I'm not going to name that team because I cry a little every time I do.

Offense dictates to defense. Fast tempo offenses get more repetitions in practice and plays in games and as a result are better at execution. Game rules favor more and more a less physical game with more scoring. The advantages are tilted to an offensive focus. Haven't we seen enough of the Ducks to understand where the game is now.

Might want to do a little googling. For some reason (maybe the last time someone posted it) I seem to think the article's available on line. Or at least other photos.

...looks like Cal football hasn't changed much since then!

On the other topic about full stadiums, I was at Costco last weekend, and noticed they have nice wide-angle game-day framed pictures of various college stadiums for about $150. It was quite noticeable that the picture of the new Memorial stadium was the only one that didn't appear to have a packed house....but those empty yellow ESP seats sure looked nice!

A 6-3 win over a 49-56 loss any day.

The advantages may tilt to the offense, but good defense is hard to find and wins games. Stanford has a great D and UO has great D (when healthy) and that's why they win. Notre Dame plays great D. It's the reason USC won under Carroll. It's why Alabama wins with Saban. It's why LSU wins with Chavis.

Winning also fills that stadium more than style of play. I'd rather win low scoring games than lose high scoring ones. I imagine I'm not the only one with this attitude.

Whatever gets the wins. It's torture watching Giants baseball, but they get the championships.
